I got Sunday off, so I am going to come up either late Saturday or early Sunday. I would like to see the offroading, and meet some of the local enthusiast.
See yall Sunday!
I just got offered 250 gallons of WMO for free from a man I met at a barbeque who thought the Deuce was pretty savage. As it turns out its mostly out of bulldozers and such, but some of it is kind of old. He told me if I dont make a mess Im welcome to it!
Now, Im trying to make sure I do...
The primary fuel filter has a slightly larger bolt running through the housing than the secondary's do. When I barrowed the little washer/perch/fitting thing from a secondary fuel filter assembly had to drill it out a little bit so it could fit over the bolt.
Other than that it fit very well...
Well, after getting a hold of DUG's old secondary filter housings I was able to rob the pieces for the primary fuel filter that I had needed. Had to drill out the center just a touch, but the truck is running great now. I did buy a spare fuel filter, and a crescent wrench so I can change it on...
I know the feeling! I leave on the 25th in my Deuce for Tacoma, Wa from riverside. I have made the trip 3 times now on an old motorcycle, but never in such an old truck that has been sitting for a while. Hopefully my trip goes as well as yours did!
Ill be back in Washington early July, perhaps we can negotiate, looks like that truck has a few of the little parts and pieces my truck is missing.
EDIT: Almost forgot, congrats on the parts!
Alright, after getting the new filters today, I think the old primary filter was doing next to nothing. It looks like at some point someone didnt have the correct filter, and used one with a much smaller inner diameter, and the piece that was supposed to sit under the filter and over the spring...
I had only added 5 gallons of oil to a part full fuel tank. I filtered it with a paint strainer, (I know, not a perfect solution) but this grit I am guessing is from the truck sitting for a long period and gathering sediment in the tank. I can tell you that the oil I have added to the system is...
FDC, as far as I know, is not bypassed.
I pulled the filter housings and caught the diesel in a "Drip tray" (Might have been a cake pan, dont judge me) and the primary filter housing had no water in it, but was FULL of heavy grit, almost looked like gravel (Will post picture) so I am rather...
Hey yall, Im still very new to Deuce ownership, so my guess is that is something stupid, but I wanted some input and suggestions before I go and muck it up worse.
If you do not want to read the whole explanation, but you have something to contribute, then skip to the Bold section...
I gave it some thought and I am going to call tomorrow a "test drive"/"Shakedown run" and take the Deuce. Ill meet up with ya'll at 730, assuming that all goes well. :D
This is a good point, however I have thought about selling the truck and decided against it. Money is tight, but I have wanted this for 3 years, and if I sold it now, I could not afford to buy one in Washington. (They are about twice the cost)
Although I thank you for making the suggestion...
Thank you for the offer of help! I spoke to U-haul today, and they said that I can get my truck and a homemade hitch approved, however my roommate and I are thinking its best to just drive the mustang, fuel for it will cost less than the tow dolly or tow bar.
Today I had to go get the...
Great and helpful post! Thank you, I think I will use a very similar design!
My roommat is concerned that we will sheer those grade 8 bolts. I think he is a dumbass, but I figure a piece of steel welded to the back of hitch and bolted to the bottom of the frame would stop any of his concerns...
We're actually starting to lean more towards the idea of a tow bar for this reason.
I have found some just like this for very inexpensive: LINK
And I have found these brackets: LINK
Yes, I know that picture does not show a 94 mustang, but its that style bracket. My question is if this...
Well, we are confident that we can construct a hitch for less than $100 total, and to rent a U-haul truck and trailer is over $1,000, before fuel.
I think I need to look into other rental options, and/or maybe just go with a tow bar.
Our big fear with putting the mustang in the bed is that heaven forbid the truck doesnt make it, we have a broken truck and a heavy car trapped in it. Even still, we would need a small u-haul trailer for the 2 street bikes, 2 dirt bikes, and a few other belongings. This goes back to needing to...
