if i was making a living with it i'd have a cummins.... if its in a fun truck then the detroit wins hands down...nothing sounds as bad ass as a wide open detroit
well this weekend i took the muffler off my m35a3. i installed a straight pipe. the truck was on the loud raspy side, too loud for me and i like loud stuff. if it made a power difference it wasnt much. then i put a 4"resonator in place of the straight pipe ....much better, sounded good but...
welding the frame is no big deal when done correctly. alot of the trucks i work with are tandems converted to tri axles. they weld an extension rail (double frame)on each side ,plate it good and its workable(with 28 tons in the body). these trucks have big hitch plates and they pull 25 ton...
Ive been plowing for 6 years with my m813 i took the foam out of the seat back( it gave me alot more leg room and the seat back is rounded so it holds you instead of giving you no side support believe it or not its a huge improvement) ,sealed up the windshields, converted the blades to good...

915's are quiet and they pull good...but...there is something about a m818 they are fairly cheap so stick a set of 290-335 injectors, pump and turbo on it they run good get a pyrometer and dont burn it up i did it for years..sorry for the small pic it was years ago
they handle fine with 12 tons .... no hills 15 tons... the limiting factor on these trucks is definitley the brakes i put a jake on mine...huge improvement
my m35a3 had an air hose, chuck and a jack in the tool box.. bring bolt cutters.. my a3 had 1 flat tire it was the ctis valve at the tire. it just sat there and honked. :cookoo: i disconnected the system and plugged the lines put 55 in all tires and its all good. oh and if it shakes at 50...
