I found these pictures on anouther trailer site and thought they were
interesting. The owner built a camper top on his M416 and matched it to his civilian jeep.
Not a true military version but cool just the same.
And it is removable too.
Cool Ride,
My daily drive to work is 5 miles round trip It would make a great commuter for me.
I would swap out the seats for a custom bench with OD canvas cover. A ranger or
toyota may work.
Keep posting pictures as you go.
The side receivers make great holders for tables and umbrella mounts.
I plan on useing one on the side to hold my instant hot water heater.
Propane tank, 30 gallon water tank, 12 volt pump fire extingulisher, first aid kit and shovel are mounted on too!
Pick your wheels.
Measure the flange to flange width "using the new rims " center pin to center pin width
and order a new dexter axle. Sell the old one here or on craigslist.
Dexter Axle Quote
Same as I was taught.
Spin the hub,
Tighten until it stops spinning,
Back off the nut to the first cotter pin hole,
castle retainer and cotter pin in
spin the hub if it rolls smooth
Bend the cotter pin legs back
You are good to go.
Manley ORV company in Ohio is starting production of a small military look trailer. They can be ordered in three styles. They look close to the Bantam and M416 trailers.
With the originals getting harder to find in restorable condition This could be the next best thing.
I think they will do...
