You might post over at G503 in the mule section as Chuck maintains a data base of all the mules that people send him information on. He just might have some info on your mule. Good luck and glad to hear you have a mule again.
Right Kurt, I belong to several railroad museums and they buy Kroil by the 5 gal bucket. You have never seen STUCK until you try to turn a 1 1/2" nut or bolt that has rusted on for the better part of a century.....
When you look at both pictures, I would guess it is the same helo and mule. I suspect they were proving the concept and here are two photos of the same event.
When you look at that mule it has a tow missle launcher with NO wide tires or fender extensions. I highly doubt it would have fit inside that Huey if they did.
Do they have vendors selling items used by all of us such as military paint? I am looking at buying 4 gallons and the shipping and hazmat fees are as much as 2 gallons of paint cost.
Nice, clean looking setup. Please remember to tie the battery down in that box otherwise rough bouncing (do mules bounce?) will put the battery terminals into the bed causing a short circuit.
I have a steering box problem with my mule and when I set the freeplay slack right or left of center, the steering binds when the tires are pointed straight ahead. I have asked around a little and have heard from others and they have seen something similar on their mules. I ran across a spring...
Don't forget the possibility of a vacuum leak on the dead cylinder, spray carb cleaner around the intake connections between the carb and cyl heads on a running engine and note any change in RPM. Other than a compression test and fire at the spark plugs, pull the valve cover and verify the...
I read up on the link on the differences of the 4A053 and the 2A042 engines and the gov rates the 4 cyl at 17HP, and the 2 cyl at only 10. I know the numbers are conservative, and they geared the 2 cyl mules down to make up for the HP loss and slow the mules down. My question is how noticeable...
Don't forget checking the ground wires, just as many electrons pass through them as the positive wires. The nice thing about alternators is that they should only give you the amperage you need and tug on the belt only when working. How old is your battery, is there a date code sticker on it...
Somethings wrong with that alternator or there is a bad connection somewhere. I have put GM integral alternators on 2 stroke 1 lunger engines that run both directions and always at low RPM and they charge just fine.
One last question while you are measuring, it the steel 14 or 11 gauge? Each summer I am a volunteer on the Cumbres and Toltec narrow gauge Railroad and plan to use my mule to transport telegraph poles and hardware on our telegraph line, so having something removeable on the right side is...
Looks like you don't travel light, you bring all your toys with you.
Our railroad museum in So. Calif. hosts an antique truck show every spring, and we have a bunch of green trucks as well as fire trucks show up as well. We let them hook up to one of our hydrants and show what they can...
Thanks for all the great photos, Your headache rack have given me ideas on building something similar. What gauge is the squarewall tubing? Is it 1" squarewall, or something different? What is the thickness of the extruded steel wire mesh? I really like the fact that your modifications are...
At the railroad museum that I volunteer at we have about 40 of the old style jerry cans, the problem is the spouts. The Blitz ones don't screw in well and leak. The other problem is that the new spouts are the small tube type that take F-O-R-E-V-E-R to fill. Any sources?
