Ditto. Over time, AL and steel will chemically react to each other. Ever have an aluminum intake leak coolant on an older engine? And for sure use anti-sieze on the bolts when reassembling.
That's a great place to put it Will, I like it. A pintle hitch, like what Djfreema has mounted in his box, but mounted to the underside would be a good way to secure it also.
I want to come up with a way to mount mine on the M818, but obviously it doesn't have the box like yours. The front end...
My first 809 series was an M820 for a very short time, basically bought and sold it. That was immediately followed by the M818 I have today. This was just over a year ago, 11-07. My very first MV was an M1008 with 33K miles out of Maguire AFB in Jersey, back in '93.
I used the Hewitt gages also. They were great to work with. The guy I talked to way back when said they had never had a deuce application before. I gave him the temp and boost ranges and he figured out the best gauges for the ranges given. I used 2 thermocouples for the EGT gauge. The only power...
Thanks guys. Couldn't remember if it was the first 2 or the last 2 of the second group of #'s in the registration #, a '70 or '71. 04D-70371. Thanks for setting me straight.
Carc is extremely tough as said. Sand blasting works good but even that takes longer than usual. Sanding works but slowly and goes through a LOT of paper. I only sanded the paint and feathered the edges on my 101 when I restored it. Smooth out the existing paint best you can and put a couple...
Hey guys, my buddy and I are trying to determine the year of his M35 so he can get it registered, etc. I know the year is in the ID# somewhere, but I'm not smart enough to know. I'm sure someone else knows. Thanks in advance!
Here is the reg. and vin #: 04D-70371 0539-10582
Great find James! I can't get over how original it is. I can still see numbers under the thin blue paint on the hood. It still has the correct wheels and tires too. What a deal!
Congrats on the new truck. Looks like you got a good one. For the lights, check to make sure the blackout/service light toggles are in the correct position. More than likely that is the problem so start there.
Does a CUCV really need a 120 speedo?
I doubt it will be accurate. Even if the 120 is physically the same as the stock 85 mph speedo and will 'bolt' in, speedo's are calibrated for a specific vehicle. Drivetrain, axle ratio, and tire size are all part of configuring the calibration.
