    Antifreeze for a Deuce

I've heard that the low silicate antifreeze is better, but I run plain old ethylene glycol based antifreeze in mine and have never had an issue. Remember, these trucks have been in use by the military for decades, long before low silicate antifreeze was around. When I was in the army in the...

Deuce possibly spotted in Gainesville/Flowery Branch, Ga area

I'm going to return next week when they are open and ask to look at it and see if it's for sale. I'm not interested in it, but someone else might be if it's available. As Clinto said, it looks like it has been sitting there a long time. The back is piled with junk and it looks like it might...

Deuce possibly spotted in Gainesville/Flowery Branch, Ga area

I did stop and knock on the door of Williams Transport, but they were not yet open, although the gate to the parking lot had already been opened. There was a guy there out front and I asked if I could go around the back and look at the truck. He said that I needed to wait until the office was...

Deuce possibly spotted in Gainesville/Flowery Branch, Ga area

I stopped and took some photos of the M37. Unfortunately, it was early and the facility wasn't open yet so I couldn't get in the fence. The M37 is located at Williams Transport / Williams Sand Co. at 3945 Thurmond Tanner Road , Flowery Branch, GA. I couldn't tell what kind of condition it is in.

    M1102 behind a pickup

Watch the GL auctions. I've seen some really nice ones go for very good prices. Someone near me has one for sale that appears to be in almost NOS condition. He wants $3,000.00 for it!

Ripped off by Fast Track Logisitics.

Never, never use a debit card for something like this. If you had used a real credit card, you could have contested the charge based on the quote and gotten your money back.

M35A2C Won't Start, and I Tore my Pants

I would plan on cleaning and flushing the fuel tank and all lines, thoroughly with diesel fuel tank cleaner. Replace all three filters. Put in fresh diesel. If you do this, then you have eliminated a lot of possibilities and in addition, it should be done anyway based on your description...

Deuce possibly spotted in Gainesville/Flowery Branch, Ga area

I work in Duluth and travel that section of I-985 every time I go to work. I've never seen the deuce you are talking about, but then I've never looked before. I'll take a look on the way home from work today.

    Deuce Trailer question

I would definitely go with the 105 trailer. It is a PITA to back up if you have the cover on the deuce. Without the cover, it is still a pain, but if you have any skills at backing a trailer it isn't that bad because then you can see the trailer. Pulling the 105 behind the Deuce makes you...

    A3 Air/Steering Issue

When I added air tool oil to my A3 steering, I added 15 - 20 ml into the draglink only. The oil will work its way through the system. I also jacked up the front of the truck and proceeded to move the steering wheel to full lock in both directions for 25 - 30 times. This immediately cured...

There has to be a better fuel pump!!!!!!!

Knock on wood, I've had my A2 going on three years now and I've never had a problem with the in-tank pump. I also drove a deuce in the Army in the early 70s and never had a problem with the pump. It's been over 40 years since I drove a deuce in the Army, but I don't remember any significant...

    Oxy/acet or mig

Ditto on both. I prefer an oxy-acetylene set with the medium-size bottles, mounted in a cart. The large bottles are a real pain if you have to move them around. Get a good set. I have an old Harris setup. I also have a Hobart MIG welder as well with an argon bottle - again, cart mounted...

    converting winch

I have both an A2 and A3 truck and both have winches. I have to say that I like my A2 winch better, and it gets a lot of use, mostly pulling logs and large rocks. I also don't like the hydraulic tank hanging under the front bumper. The PTO setup on my A2 has been very reliable. I never...

    Throw Out Bearing Grease Fitting

The other problem is that if you could grease the throwout bearing with a zerk, there would be people that pushed in way too much grease that could end up on the clutch. I had an idiot to put a huge amount of chassis grease into my water pump one time and it all ended up in my cooling system.

    Throw Out Bearing Grease Fitting

    It only greases the shaft.

    Throw Out Bearing Grease Fitting

Pull the cover and grease the shaft. You can also turn the zerk for better accessibility later.

    transmission M35A3

Allison never recommended motor oil for the 1545 transmission. The Army mandated the use of motor oil to eliminate the need for one more fluid they would need to support in the field. Dexron III is much better than the motor oil. Buy it at NAPA under their brand in 5-gallon pails and it is...
