First, Welcome to Steel Soldiers! You will enjoy a deuce. Drop side trucks are not as common as standard beds, but they are around. They are much more convenient for loading cargo. The winch is a definite plus. If it's in good shape and good price, go for it.
I really like Gillespie paint. The problem with the rattle cans is that the nozzles tend to leak and drip so if you are spraying down on a horizontal surface you need to be careful that paint doesn't drip on your surface. This problem is not limited to 383, other colors also have the problem...
For what it's worth, I believe they recommend Xylene as the thinner. The attached file from Rapco give the recommendations for thinning. I love Gillespie paints, although the Rapco rattle cans are a challenge.
when I make a post, I always copy the text before submitting the post. That way when the problem occurs, all you need to do is log back in and paste the text. I like your truck.
Be very careful what fluid you put in. The Allison 1545 is designed to be used with Dexron III and the newer TranSynd. Dexron VI for instance will destroy the seals. The motor oil is not compatible with Dexron III, TranSynd or any of the other fluids. Since you were unable to use the drain...
Although I went with State Farm for my A2 and A3, Progressive also agreed to insure my trucks, but since the rest of my insurance was with State Farm, I went with them.
The leak is possibly from the vent on the transmission, but likely not causing your problem. Have you tried going to one of the Allison transmission forums? There are several active forums dedicated to Allison transmissions. The Allison 1545 transmission is a relatively common transmission...
Are you sure the solenoid is going all the way? Make sure the solenoid and linkage are completely clean. I sprayed carburettor cleaner on mine when it was sticking. I still sometimes have to manually pull on the linkage if it sticks.
You probably don't live with your parents, but you may be able to get it covered through your parents insurance company with you listed as an authorized driver. I know someone else that had a similar problem, although it didn't involve an MV, it was a muscle car. The guy convinced his Dad to...
The generator head on the 30D36R is made by Baldor and is a standard commercial item. I was able to obtain the original military manuals by contacting Andrew Spencer at Baldor. He was very helpful and since Baldor sells generators globally, he may be able to provide assistance. His contact...
If work doesn't interfere, I'll be there. Probably bring my A2 if there is room to park - it needs the exercise. Almost exactly 100 miles from my house.
I've welded with Hobart welders for many years and never had an issue. I currently have a Handler 187 with argon and it is great. Definitely get a 220V model. I've never used a Miller, but I know a lot of people that swear by Miller as well.
When I've recovered trucks and trailers, I've always gone to DMV ahead of time and pre-registered for a temporary tag and I've also gone ahead and received an insurance policy on trucks from State Farm. I wonder if GL is contacted ahead of time and proof of registration and insurance is...
First, welcome to Steel Soldiers! You've come to the right place.

Just because the NOS pump from TNJ Murray quit on you, don't assume it is a bad pump because your old pump was bad previously. Troubleshoot the problem and confirm that it is indeed a bad pump. It could also be a bad fuse, loose connection, etc.
