    24v to 12v dilema

Alright, ignoring for the moment whether or not this particular alternator is capable of the desired task... There will be no imbalance by supplying 14V to the center connection between two series batteries. The voltage there is already 14V (for good batteries). Take it to an extreme: What...

    24v to 12v dilema

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have done the same thing with series capacitors in power supplies (FWB doubler). Putting 14V on the first battery and 28V on the series combination should serve to better balance the batteries.

    Doesn't GMA Cover have these?

    24v to 12v dilema

Do you really need three batteries? Can't you tie the 12V out from the alternator to the mid point of the existing two batteries in a 24V system?

    Advantages of 24v

I am not sure what trucks you are talking about. In more general terms, series parallel switches were once used to get adequate cranking power. Both 6/12 and 12/24 systems were employed. This is straight out of the literature of the fifties. I have yet to see any modern OTR truck or farm...

    Advantages of 24v

I don't think that any modern trucks have dual 12/24V systems. This was done back in the old days when starter technology wasn't as evolved. Modern trucks and tractors work just fine with 12 volts.

No offense was taken from your comment.

    E85 fuel

I have read conflicting reports on the real energy content required to make a gallon of ethanol. That fact that most of the detractor's papers come out of California makes me believe that there is a lot of political BS to sort through. I don't think that anyone seriously believes that corn...

    Multifuel winch on gas truck?

Are there any issues with installing a winch off of a multifuel truck on a gas truck?

    Casting Wiper lever

Yes, they will shrink. There is a rule of thumb for shrinkage but I don't remember it. Not knowing that, you could look up the thermal coefficient of expansion of Al and use that to calculate the shrinkage from molten temp to room temp.

    Adjusting oil pressure

If the multifuel is plumbed like the majority of engines out there, it is unlikely that shimming your relief valve will improve your low oil pressure. The relief valve is there to limit the maximum oil pressure, nothing more. For example, if are running 20psi and your relief valve is set to...

    WTB Igntion Coil for M123/M125

Any good coil will have sufficient energy to light off a slow, low compression engine. You also have the advantage of a 24V system which results in a faster coil saturation time. The M35, M52, and M135 Delco ignition systems all used 6V coils with a dropping (ballast) resistor to limit the...

    What model winch

I bobbed a nice '53 deuce and love it. Stored indoors most if not all of it's life and not one bit of rust. It was what was readily available to me without spending a lot of $$$$.

    R6602 opinion needed

Have you priced a 502 BBC? Might be cheaper to run but the up front costs are significantly higher. You would be much better off with a newer diesel. IMHO, the real problem with the R6602 is the very low compression ratio (and the lack of a full flow oil filter). Otherwise, it is a very nice...

No, but my brother just bought one. The GMC wheels would have been an easy improvement.

Hay how do I get my truck to work with

I have a '48 GMC with 5 hole Budd wheels. My GMC parts book lists several 5 bolt on 8" circle. What is the M37 bolt circle?

    compressor

The compressors are fairly common on larger trucks. I got mine locally for $25 and it had a ball bearing on the pulley end and insert bearings.

Hay how do I get my truck to work with

Does the M37 use a five lug bud wheel? If so, wheels from a forties-fifties era gmc truck will work. Looks to me like that is what is in the picture; based on the offset.
