Hope you all don't hate me for this...

If there is enough room, you could mount the axle above the springs and lower the trailer. Make it easier to load/unload.

    5 ton 4 wheel question

M1061 are 12ft, m1061a1 or e1 are 14 ft. Search 1061e1 and you will find more info. I have one and like the shorter deck height, tarp frame, and sides I built. Useful trailer to have, just need to build ramps.

    MF vs Gas differences

The front crossmember is different. Channel iron for multi, a regular crossmember for gas. Pass motor mount in rear is moved rearward 4 in for multi. Grill and side panels. Fenders are different, but will work on both trucks. Brake line for front axle is routed different on frame on...

    M108 towing old ambulance

Ever try to wind up 250 foot of winch cable in a blizzard? Easier to just wind it around the bumper. Next time I have it out in warm weather it will get wound nicely. It would take a lot of moola to make the towbar or M108 leave. Get way too much use out of them. Hoping to see the white...

    M108 towing old ambulance

First time I've used the M108 to tow with. Bolted a set of shackle mounts to the bumper and towed the truck about 6 miles. It's an ambulance that Dad uses for electrical work. Figured I better use the heavy truck since his truck weighs 12000lbs. Glow plug tip broke off and rattled around in...

    Posting in Wrong Forum?

I just moved one yesterday to the correct forum. Just a lack of time to correct all the threads, and yes, they should be posted in the correct forum.

    Turned up Deuce

If your just getting a haze and not black smoke when getting up to speed, the fuel is probably set ok. Should not see any smoke on flat ground. A search will reveal how to install a pyro. Then you can tune the fuel setting for better power. Like WM said, a long steep hill. or...

Probably a dumb newby ? but here goes

Moved the thread to 5 ton and up forum. I would thing the only trucks big enough for a detroit 60 is the 809 and 900 series. M35 and older 5 tons have smaller engine bays. Dennis

    Found an M543 (I think)

If you look at the crane, one boom lift cylinder is a M62. Two is M543. Both trucks have the same engine/transmission options. Gas, multi, or mack engine. Overdrive transmission for multi and mack. At 2 grand u wont regret it!

    Different style cab/cargo cover hooks

my a2 has the same hooks on the front.

    In cab heater install, M35/M108

Guess I never did say how it worked out... heater works good, had it out in some 15 degree weather driving around.

Deuce vs. 5 Ton axles: Same housing?

No on the 5 ton axles being the same. You might find your old seal is wallowed out.

    New M35A3 Questions

On the air issue, the M35a3's have an air assist steering added on. Every time you turn the wheel, the steering air cylinder will use and exhaust air to make the power steering work. It can quickly use up the air in the air tanks if you are doing a lot of steering. I believe they have a...

    upgrading the LDT/LDS air compressor

Might want to consider just getting a gas compressor. Deuce works for running air tools once in a while, or while broke down. Running for long periods of time with no load will have the truck slobbering oil. Less wear and tear on the truck. Dennis

    Installed remote brake reservoir today

Some of the master cylinder caps are already tapped for a 1/8 fitting, makes the install a little easier.

My Bobbed Deuce is almost done

Is the battery charger waterproof? Reason I ask is the battery compartment on my truck gets mud and rain in it.

    transfer case PTO

I would use a coupler or clutch. If I leave the pto engaged for the crane, and drive down the road, the pump makes a heck of a racket. And the pto would be spinning backwards in reverse.

    High revving gas pedal

check for a broken or missing return spring on your throttle linkage. Common problem.
