There's a rolling chassis with a duramax/allison sitting in it on e bay right now. Item 140014067107 It is located in Illinois. The duramax normally drops the exhaust on the right hand side so someone has done some of the work already.

In some applications, Humvees included, that plug would have a hose nipple installed and that is where the return hose from the heater core would be attached. The CUCV and I think Chevy trucks as well, return heater core water into the radiator.
