Mangus580, After you under coat it, aren't you going to miss the sound of water spinning off of your right rear tire and hitting the wheel well? That Herculiner is a good idea for the inside. You won't have to worry about water getting under the mat when you hose out the interior.
If the output shaft doesn't dip into the fluid it may be spinning without oil splash lubing it's bearings. I've never opened up one of the 208's to see what's inside. If the output shaft or it's gear is sitting in ATF, I think it would be OK to tow it with the drive shaft installed and with the...
You will have idiot light sensors in place of gauge sensors. The idiot light sensors are on/off switches and the gauge sensors vary the electrical resistance to run a gauge. You might want use a "T" so you can keep the oil idiot light as well as having a gauge.
I've never seen any spacers used. Are the spacers that you are talking about used along the window sill? If it sits level now I would not worry about it, since the spacers are probably not a shock absorbing item.
I have towed a few CUCV's using the shackle points and the Military tow bar, with all four wheels on the ground. I have always removed the rear drive shaft and unlocked the front hubs. If the transfer case was placed in neutral and the rear driveshaft left in place, would any damage occur to the...
Warren, I can tell you what is just beyond the suggested towing load of a M1009. A couple of years ago I bought two trailers from Vandenberg AFB. One was the M116 with two 10KV generators installed and the other was the M101A2 with two 3KV generators inatalled. I took the jerry can holders off...
I've got a couple, one is the plug that fills the hole where the cigar lighter socket usually is and how about the long bolts that are used to hold the shell to the back side of the cab roof. There are still a couple more that I know of that haven't been mentioned and one of them is not a small...
Army S-4, That's a good one. I never thought of the little rain guard thingie on the locks. I guess the head lamp retaining bezels would be stainless too. Come on guys and gals, there is more chrome!
I put this up for fun, so don't get too serious about it. There are a few things that are chrome and I have wondered why not painted. There are more that I know of, than have already been pointed out.
Who knows and can tell us, what items on the '84, '85 and '86 Chevy CUCV series of vehicles, were chrome plated or chrome plastic plated as originally equiped?
I have never worked on a tank, but I would suggest before you pull apart any fuel pumps you might try changing any fuel filters. they may have water removal petcocks at their bottoms or there may be water separaters in line somewhere too and the fuel tank could be drained to remove any old fuel...
The injector pumps on the HMMWV's are 24 volt. That is the fuel shut off and cold start advance solenoids are. I don't know if the civi 12 volt ones can be dropped in place of the 24 volt stuff. The wiring termianls exit in different areas and there may be a difference in the moving parts just...
Did you get the torque specs? I have TM9-2815-210-34 which covers many models and up to the LDT 465 1C engine and it says to oil the bearings, rod bolt threads and bolt head seating surface with OE/HDO-30. Thghten to an intermediate 66-67 pound-feet and a final touque of 95-100 pound feet. In my...
Pat, The electricals are not really that bad. I think most of the problems are from the vehicles sitting around and humidity messing with the grounds and such. Light switches usually start working after a hundred or so cycles and the fuel gauge usually starts working after vibration from driving...
An old girlfriend coined the "Stink Truck" name, because the whole house would stink like diesel exhaust when I would run the truck in the garage for any length of time. The M880 trucks on the other hand never got a complaint. "Dodge Stink Truck" It has a nice sound to it. The next time that I...
