We have had this discussion a couple times before. It will 'divide' the site too much. I know its unhandy, but with what we have right now, its just gonna have to work.

They are fairly reasonable to convert, but you can probably get the starter rebuilt for a decent price at a starter shop. There is an article stating how to convert them someplace on the net.

Is there anything wrong with the 24v system?

I went the project box way. I have it mounted on the radio bracket on the dash. Not sure if I have any pics of it, but if I do, they are on this site someplace!
