The 250 Cummins in the 800 series is essentially the same as in the 900 slick and A1s, axle ratio is the same, so the big difference is 5 speed vs Allison. Top speed is mostly about tire size. Transfer case in either has it’s own pros and cons.

Suggest you carefully inspect the Cannon connector that is in the engine compartment that plugs into the start box. Water gets into it and causes corrosion between the wires and pins that can lead to intermittent connections.

Doesn't your new muffler have 3 bolt flanges on it? The diameter on the inlet will match that on the exhaust manifold.

Agree with Mogman, body has the ancient mirror mounts which puts it at early to mid 1980's mfg. More than likely 6.2.

Well then what you said "I don't have a vacuum line anywhere" is inaccurate. Suggest you plug that vacuum port and see if anything changes.

So you have nothing connected here at all? This is the manifold vacuum port.

Did your Jeep have this starting issue before you modified it with the aftermarket ignition system? Points cost like 5 dollars.

Try disconnecting and plugging the vacuum line at the intake manifold port and see if that changes anything. You might have a blown vacuum diaphragm.

I use a pair of BatteryMinders but others are happy with NOCO Genius. Use two 12 volt units, not one 24 unit.

Super important with these infrequently used flood trucks is to put battery maintainers on them! I do fleet maintenance on 5 LMTVs and these maintainers keep everything up and running. The FDs should be familiar with disconnecting the Kussmaul before driving off.

If anyone before you has been attempting repairs, double check that all relays in the PDP are the correct part number and type and voltage.
