Munchies,
If I understand correctly, you are saying disconnect the line into the IP and fill a jar from it while timing. Then reconnect that line and fill a jar from the return line, also timing it.
Where is air going to enter the equation except from the IP fill line?
Am willing to try...
Guys,
The good news is that three of the 002A units bought last fall have been restored to operational status and have sold in the past 3 weeks. Bad news is the fourth 002A unit has me perplexed.
I’ve only been at the generator rescue task for the past 2 years and would appreciate some...
By golly, I think I'm starting to understand the anomalies I see. Awesome! Thanks to all!
BTW: sold an 002a to a member today. A VERY pleasant visit and lunch. Glad to meet you Will and wish you the best.

I agree on the hour meter not meaning a whole lot, just an indicator. I paid far too much for a pretty unit which I intended to keep and which I'm still troubleshooting.

Somehow I missed this when first posted. I'd like to see an understandable governor/speed adjustment guide. It causes me problems and probably led me to scrap more than one potential runners. :(:(
Jeepin,
Checked today. Red lead from VR goes on far right of the terminal block and one lead off the capacitor joins in on the screw below the red lead on the block. Other cap lead goes to ground behind the term block mounting bolt.

Jeepin,
Some vr's don't have the capacitor (?) with the red wires. If there, keep it. I'd keep the capacitor from the stator as well as it regulates ac voltage spikes as well as minimizing RFI. can't recall its connections but will send a pic if I can this sunday. am working. Someone else...
Tom,
I think Keith is saying all the same parts go back in after cleaning. That should not change anything.............Should it????????? The rebuild kit is mostly gaskets and O-rings, nothing critical to timing.
At least that is the belief I've been under and has worked so far. By way of...
I think so if I can find the time.
Just won 4 more 003 engines today so I'll strip them and experiment with one. Lots of new/good dc vr's, starters, IP's injectors, glow plugs, stators, solenoids, etc coming available since I now have 10 rebuilt engines, Just need time.

Keith,
Hopefully not a hi-jack.
A Virginia friend and SS member named Phil, has several MEP-003a's and always fills the last fuel filter on a newly acquired one with Mystery oil and cranks it a few times to get it through the IP to loosen things up. Then lets it sit for a day or so before...
Laura is the office person. Unless he has left GL or was on vacation, Jason is in charge. He is usually outside or in the warehouse. You can still preview during the auction. Camera is good advice.
