I have sanded it hundreds of times and wear a particle mask. I work at an assembly plant we weld galvanized and everything else under the sun. We all wear PPE as needed. But I think everything is over warned on the labels because of liability. One paint is as bad as the rest. they still haven't...
Anyone know where to get the little metal PITA clips that hold the out door handle linkage to the door latch? I am going to find some somewhere. They are very hard to get undone. Unless they have a tool for doing it. Metal clips NOT plastic.
NAPA here could not find a pump anywhere. In Germany I hear they pay $400. for one. $350 euro. Welcome back to the site. Long time since I heard from you. Lots of toque rods and strut rods ago. Have a Great Day. I must go I have a stripper in the barn.
My guess is it is the same stuff that LMC offers just in different packaging. The same as the A C Delco parts being passed along as Genuine GM. Not the case. But since it is local vendor I will give it a try. I have 3 more M1009's to complete and then done. But I will be sure to report. What...
OK. How do you steal one if you don't have the key? I would hear one of these trucks start a 1/2 mile away. Besides no one wants to steal a camo truck. They wouldn't get very far very fast. I thought yo lived out in the nice part of Texas. Just let the keys hang and doors unlocked...
Spent most of my day working my regular job. stripped the firewall as far as I am going to. Washed it down with acetone and then scuff sanded it. Even after 30 years the acetone takes the paint off down to the black wash primer. Looks really good and am looking forward to getting the trim edging...
Be careful and take it apart slowly. Use your camera to take pictures as you disassemble. There is not much to it really. Take the cluster cover screws out first. Slow and steady will get it done. But like I said it is simple and old brittle plastic. So be careful.
Starter bolts are starter bolts. Back in the day they had flange headed starter bolts. Honestly I don't change the starter bolts every time. They are not torque to yield bolts. But I have changed them when I have them new and available. Unless you doubt the bolts were ever changed you don't need...
I started out making a new HD vinyl dah and column cover. I ended the night cleaning up the windshield pinch weld. I began stripping the firewall. I am going to paint the entire exterior of the cab structure. The pinch weld needs a few small holes brazed shut and it will be golden. I will sand a...
I have 2 sets of the dually spacers they are Arrowcraft brand. They are steel and very HD. I used them on a pair of plow trucks now I am running single tires. They are in great shape. I will give a great deal on a set of them. I want to sell them in 4 piece sets.
I used them in the worst snow condition and have bad no problems. But what do I know? They work well for me on plow trucks and all. Even Halogens can ice up under the right conditions on a plow truck and in heavy cold snow. The Truck lite brand is all I can attest to. I never bought any others...
I can do it from the top side in about a 1/2 hour. My Wife done a few for me for $40. She is not so easily amused anymore. But doing it topside is the way to go. Only thing I go under for is the 2 M6 cover plate bolts. And letting everything loose is the key. Tighten only after everything is...
Looks good. Nice and clean. I just seen a local company sells the glass weather strip package for $99. CJPony parts. in Harrisburg PA Free shipping. Keep adding to the post show your progress.
Same reason the floor never dries and it is rusty 24/7 under that rug. I remember an order the Army gave in the PS magazine to remove all the rubber mats and jute backing from CUCV's in certain areas. I seen a lot with the anti skid painted on the floor. But by all means cover the floor and put...
I have NEVER had any problems painting over CARC. I use a lot of sandpaper if the CARC is heavy and rough but after it is smooth I go over it with sealer and paint it normally. I sand everything with 80 grit 5" disc sander. And follow up with 180. If you are going to paint another camouflage...
Word of advice. If you plan on running this vehicle and making it somewhat dependable. If it were mine I would send the injection pump out and have it rebuilt. It will save you a lot of stress and heart ache. With no know history and everything you already mentioned it is going south fast. And...
Very hot and humid so I slacked a bit. The left side is complete and ready for primer. And then onto the right side rocker is all that is needed over there. Cut the old one off and I am NOT happy with the fit of a rocker over. So I am getting a full rocker. I bought some parts from someone a few...
Never really looked there I guess, but I found rust on the top/right side of the windshield. This really bothers me! I hope it won't be too bad...
I think you are going to have some repair work there. But I would much rather find it now then after you reassemble the truck. I always remove all...
Yea that would be a great way to put it in a fix. But not fix any of the current issues he is experiencing. I think he wants a bolt in solution to the engine issue. He seems happy with the 6.2 and just wants to refresh it after 200K. I think so anyway. Simple 2-3 day fix and back on the road.
