Just an update - 7 people in my group (Thanks again, Don!), will be camping all the nights and will be there Friday sometime. I'll be at Kutztown University after work on Thursday so the trip from there to RC only takes like an hour.

SS'ers - I have a question. I have a friend who wants to go but no more space in either my friends or my truck. Would anyone be willing to have a copilot for the day? Let me know either way. He's a cool guy. One of our fellow SS'ers with a 5 ton actually gave him a ride a few years back and met...
Definitely a gasket was there. I was just worried that it might have fallen in the motor, but I don't really think that was possible probably fell to the back of the block. It is too tight of a fit coming out for it to fall in.
Will
Glad to hear the gear isn't a problem.
Nope it definitely has at least part of a gasket. Don't have a bore scope, but I have a dentist mirror, I'll give that a go.

IP is out! Not too bad, it was just cold and the injector lines are a pain.
Two questions - I took the vacuum pump out and it looks like there was only half of the gasket that was left behind. I have no idea where the other half went, and I don't think it fell in, but if it did, could it cause...
Honestly, I'm just going to pull it and get it rebuilt and put a new lift pump in. I cant have this thing break down, and the parts are 30 years old at this point. The amount it is leaking from the throttle shaft is insane too. Especially with my NV4500 swap, zero leaks are allowed. I will try...
10-4 on that. I need this truck to be as reliable as possible, so I'm going to replace the whole fuel system. I can't have it down, because it gets used almost as a daily driver. I'll keep you posted on the status, but it probably wont be until next week because we just got snowed in...

So with a little advice, I decided to just replace everything. It is 30 years old and shot anyway, so instead of being stranded down the road, I'm going to deal with it now.

Hello,
Just looking to bounce some ideas off of you guys.
My dad was driving the other day when we said the truck sputtered out while moving as if it had ran out of fuel, not a "dead kill" type situation - it wanted to keep running if that makes sense. It has been extremely cold here in NJ...
You're going to have a blast, it's the most fun I've ever had off road. Great people, vehicles and location. Like I said, I have missed the past few SS events and am jonesing to get back.

Thanks for making your build thread, it is what inspired me to go this route! I am never planning on doing a Cummins swap with this truck, maybe another so I'm not really worried about my choice of trans.
I realize the crossmember doesn't need to be replaced....but I kinda just want to make a...
If I get an urge to get rid of it, I'll keep you at the top of the list. It would be sick to set up a hydraulic winch but who knows if I'll ever have the time/money for that. So it might end up going.

Ok so I think I'm going to order the slave cylinder bracket from Advance Adapters. If that works, I'll order their bell. If it doesn't, then I'll just return it and use stock GM stuff.
Will
I think they might be my solution. It shouldn't hit even just stock, but the clearance will be tight as I have heard. I'm talking 1-2" unflexed, throw some articulation in there and it might hit the slave. For the price and seemingly "Zero-con" install, it looks like the zero rate blocks may be...
I hear that! My back already has problems from work....I enlisted the help of my dad. Not too bad with two guys.
Also I was thinking, worst case, could I use a set of these to give a little more clearance at the front, without compromising the OEM ride/handling/wear characteristics...
