I built 5 trans 2 th400 for m1009 2 m1008 th400 and my trans in my M1028A2 TH475 -NP205 and works very well with my Cummins 6BTA.
I use to pull and pick up some 31 15.50 15 Tarra tires they will blow away most any thing out there.
I ran an Auto trans with 205 & 6.17 with both Detroit lockers strange engineer axles and many hard parts. to much to list. also beef up an set of over load springs and made custom blocks to help...
Shannon Deese You are right on the money Had to do it my 84 M1008 Puller It would pull out the bed bolts And twist almost in to two I would have 3 tires on the ground left front 3 ft off the ground.
after 3 frames we box her in and had no more problems at all.
