Sooo, today I went about replacing all 3 diff breathers and found 2/3 stuck closed. They let go a bit of air pressure from within when I removed them. I have since run straight barbed fittings with 3/16" rubber line to act as the vent now. This may explain why the front diff was leaking out of...
I go by what Timken/StemCo recommend for their wet hub setups.
1. Torque inner nut while spinning the hub to 200 ft/lbs
2. Back off a full turn
3. Torque inner nut to 50 ft/lbs
4. Back off 1/4 turn and install locking components
5. Torque outer nut to 250 ft/lbs
Finally got some some 395's Michelins.
What are you guys running for tire pressure with run flats? The tire shop put in 100 Psi but I could tell from driving they were overinflated. I aired them down to 60 psi, seems better.
Well I pulled the trigger and bought 7 brand new 395/85R20 Michelin XZL's & 7 used 2 pc combat wheels. The tires have run flats in them already. Truck's at the tire shop I'll post some pics tmr when she's done :)
Absolutely my friend. They are a lot better then the ol 44 MT's. When I get to the point of buying one I'll research the price on everybody's parts and go from there :)
It does matter as I live in Canada and our dollar trades at around $1.4ish for every $1 US at the moment. Is it a 11 tooth anvil on the starter? Might just bolt up and work :)
Well thanks.
It's a slow process. There's a lot of money to spend here. A clutch...$1000, air conpressor that's missing...$1200 with everything it needs, power steering pump, alternator, new 39MT starter... It all adds up. Once the trans is bolted to the engine I will remove the engine stand...
Ya, on Monday I have a 700 mile combined trip to drop these off and grab the (7) 14.00R20 (Goodyear AT-2A). Can't wait :)
Who said you couldn't fit 11 of those G177's in a pickup LOL. ;)
Pistons/wrist pins, liners, rings, all seals, all gaskets, all bearings and a optional head but you inquire that when you place your order as there is a core charge. Flawless kits I prefer them over OEM.
You could do this in your driveway. Not sure how intense it would be to roll over the...
I'd haul a 35' seacan and make a camper out of that. Maybe cut that in half so you can roll your crawler off the back. Tractors in themselves are too short for anything.
Just ran the serial number at my local Cat dealership and it's a 3406C, not a B. Very identical, pre-PEEC, still 425 HP.
Also, just found a main shaft for the trans, got my tranny guy assembling it. Once I purchase an Eaton easy-pedal clutch I'll bolt the two together.
When my PPV stuck closed on me it built air to 150 psi and blew off at the compressor.
I think it's the governor, like mentioned above. The governor also sends pressure to the dryer so it can purge when the compressor cuts out.
IIRC, Try a Stemco 2110. They work on most class 8 trucks rear drive axles and trailers. i could be wrong but that's what I believed we used when I worked at Western Star Trucks.
