You can always find someone willing to swap the older seat setup for your springer seat. I like the older seat because of the storage space under the seat, but it is definitely less comfortable.
Bigger tires is about all you can do and obviously there is a limit how much bigger you can go. You can also run the tires at 55 - 60 psi. This won't make the truck go any faster, but it does ride and handle better. Minimizes the wobble as well. You are limited to 60 psi max due to this...
DH, I saw thr priority valve on the TM and it appears to me to be a valve that cuts off if the line to the emergency gladhand valve in the event of failure of that line or anything attached to it. I have fully traced out all the pneumatic lines on both the truck and in the TM to understand how...
Update. I disconnected both connectors from the CTIS on the steering column. This had no impact on the problem, so I'm still trying to understand exactly how the compressed air system operates.
I went to drive the A3 to the coffee shop this morning and it let me down. I ended up driving the A2, which seems to never have any problems. After starting the A3 engine, the air buzzer came on and never went off. The air pressure gauge never built up any pressure. After 2 - 3 minutes, a...
In Georgia they will give you a temporary tag for free. However, I did not post it as tape wouldn't stick to the CARC. Make sure you drive through the weight stations - they almost always wave you through thinking you are military.
When you drain the fuel / air separator, it is common that the drain is plugged up. Open the petcock and use a piece of welding rod, etc. to clear the drain. Mine was full of **it and I had to keep poking it free to clear it. Leave the pump running while clearing it, but be prepared for a...
I was taking a wheel off of a 50s vintage vehicle once. I found that there was a mix of left and right hand studs on the same wheel. Fortunately, when I couldn't get some to come loose my Dad noticed the mix of L and R markings. He never assumed anything. I changed out the incorrect studs.
CARNAC can help with the unit information from the left size. As above, sand and/or use solvent to clear the right side. From the photos it shouldn't be difficult.
I drove my truck around 5 - 10 miles between changes and did all the changes in one day. I wanted to make certain that the fluid was hot and well mixed before draining.
You can find 9:00 X 20 NDT tires all over, ranging from NOS to good used ones. It is also relatively easy to find some already mounted on wheels. If you do buy tires only, I would recommend buying new tubes for the tires. I pay a local guy $25.00 to change out tires for me. It's good to know how...
Get rid of the motor oil anc change to Dexron III. The only reason the Army used motor oil in the Allison was to eliminate one more fluid that needed to be supported in the field. I contacted Allison technical support, not a dealer rep. Allison definitely recommends Dexron III as this is the...
I'm starting out in Hiawassee, GA on Thursday morning with a Deuce. I believe one Deuce may be joining me in Hiawassee. Two other Deuces will be joining me in Clarksville and another Deuce joining in further south. We may be able to join up the two groups somewhere along the way if you are...
