these are my thoughts, too. i'm looking for bench from bestop, they are fold and tumble and have a headrest. I've measured the bench of my cj, the lenght fits perfect. a custom frame made from angle iron is easy to made and with some sheetmetal you've a very nice toolbox under the seat.

why make things so complicated? use a second alternator, a 3rd battery and you're fine! with a cheap 66A alternator you have enough power to use working lights, cb, cooler and so on.

hi stuart, equalizer are ok, but with a 3rd battery you have allways fresh starter batterys and one for accessories. you dont have to think about: will it start or not? :grin:

maybee its easier to climb...a higher tailgat means a lower step when its open...thats the only reason i can imagine. my dropside has also the high tailgate.

further explanation: one "spring bearing ring" is missing, i start to make one on the lathe, but now i'm in doubt with the mounting direction. i don't really trust the guy who has changed the filters and replace the ring with an old metal gasket......
