SUCCESS! 60 lugs and thimbles all removed and reinstalled by me.
Thanks to Will, Rat4spd and everyone else who told me to check the air supply. Went with 1/2 inch hose and 3/8" fittings, moved the truck closer to the shop and they all came off. A couple were a little harder than others, but...
I bent the 3/4 inch breaker bar.
I now have 50 feet of new 1/2 hose and plenty of 3/8 QD connectors and brass fittings. The plan is to hook directly to the compressor and to the gun.
I have to stop by Sears to return the 3/4 inch gun and then I'll try the new improved flow plan. If that...
Shoot Westfolk a PM as well. He puts out great stuff at a very good price. I have all of his spin ons on my truck and have never had an issue. Install so easy my young son did it while I "supervised".
Hole - thanks for the offer, but I'll get them loose before Dirtbag. I don't want to drive it knowing I can't get them off.
My next step is to hook my 1/2 inch hose directly to the compressor and directly to the 1 inch gun with no fittings. Then I will move the truck closer to the shop and...
Yes, because so far I have gotten one complete outside dual off, yet only one thimble. On the hub behind it the NG unit used left handed threads on the right side. I have removed 4 of 6.
My bad - I used all the above impact guns with my shop air. It has enough volume. The 3/4 gun I just bought says it does 750 ft lb and it wont loosen chit.
Hole - I'll try to get pics of the tires once I get my front seal replaced and all these over tightened lugs un F*&ked. There were all new when I picked up the truck from Barstow.
It's 75 miles each way.
AND
Once bitten, twice shy.
I hope to fix the seal this weekend and don't have time to get it to San Diego and back to have the lugs removed and re installed. I need the truck for a scouting trip the following weekend.
So my $300 dollar tire install isn't turning out to be such a great deal after all.
The shop overtightened all my lugs and I can only get a few off. I used to use my 1/2 Craftsman impact and truck supplied air and never had any problems.
So far I've tried -
A Harbor Frieght 1 inch drive...
I'm all for it. Every one that gets bobbed makes mine worth just a little bit more. After Mark posts up about # 600,000 being bobbed mine should offically be "rare".
LOL
To me it's just another MOD. I got into the hobby wanting a bobber and ended up liking the full sized truck more.
And...
My convoy is coming up LATE Thursday. We won't be able to roll north until almost 2000, so don't plan on going to sleep too early if you're up there. Got one buddy towing up his Sami, and other driving my little truck/camper and towing (his 1st tow ever) the Sami dude's camper. I'll be in the...
Tire shop has the lugs so tight I have only been able to get two wheels off. I'm going to buy a 1" drive gun, remove the outer duals and then loosen the inners one at a time. Then I'll torque to spec. My 1/2" drive gun will be able to remove them on the road if I get a flat. I also need to...
This one is too cheap to mount sideways - it doesn't lock in place. It stays put where it's at though. Never thought about the trailer tires, I guess I'll have to figure it out when the time comes. I did like the thread where the guy mounted a nice one with a long cord under the bed. I just...
