CUCV-II at San Antonio, TX. Pickup and or stored, maybe transport to FL or nearby.

Crap, need to start scouring TX Craigslist to see what else Texas has that I didn't know I need.

Legal Issues that could effect all MV Owners

No worries, thanks for looking out!

Legal Issues that could effect all MV Owners

I'm accutely familiar with Florida and the way the system works here. I need to learn about GA as I'm planning to move there in 2 years.

Legal Issues that could effect all MV Owners

I think so. My 86 M1008 has the FMVSS sticker and is titled so it should be no problem. If one were to buy a 94 LMTV lets say M1078 and was able to get the SF97, it should be able to be registered as FMVSS standards were part of the contract between DOD and Stewart and Stevenson, right? Are...

Legal Issues that could effect all MV Owners

Does anyone know where the FMTVs fit in on all this? I'm pretty certain that meeting FMVSS was part of their contract.

    Patrick AFB, FL Anyone?

There were only a few members in that area that I know of and none of the 3 have been on here in quite a while. Sorry, it's quite a hike for me, about 4 hours.

    Complete newbie from Ohio!

Feels like a suburb. Left Huber Gulch in 1989, been here ever since. As luck would have it, I will be relocating my family to GA in a little over 2 years. I have to get out of this heat. Fortunatly I've developed the willpower and self control to reduce my fleet down to 3 small trucks and a...

    Complete newbie from Ohio!

Welcome from sunny South Florida, a distant suburb of Dayton!

    Recovering a M1061 trailer?

Take an infrared heat gun too if you have one. Great for monitoring hub temps, tire temps and the like. I recovered one last summer from across the state. Was an effortless recovery.

    M1009 axles under a M1008

The burb axles will bolt right in to your 3/4 ton unless it's a 4 door. 5.?? gears should be hot sellers to the off highway crowd.

    M1009 axles under a M1008

    Should be driving by sundown.

    I'm too tall?

Trimming the thickness of the seatback cushion helps a bunch and you will hardly notice any change in comfort. The pedals on your 809 series truck do have adjustments on them.....or at least they should. From underneath you can see where the pedal shaft goes through the arm and a bolt secures...

    Engines in the CUCV?

    I shall reconsider.

    New to SS from NY

Deuce manuals simplified! TM 9-2320-361-10 is where we will start. The TM of course means technical manual. 2320= wheeled vehicles. 361 is the series of manuals and -10 is the operators manual. I usually refer folks to the 361 series as there is only 5 manuals and a lube order. TM...

    Driving issue...bogging down and dying

There is a little arrow cast into the housing very close to the edge. I don't have one to look at here at work. If memory serves me correct, the rear lines (Closest to the mounting boss) are inputs and the front ones are discharge.

    Engines in the CUCV?

I used to entertain the converted gasser debate but I no longer argue it. The more misinformed clowns there are out there, the lower the prices remain.

    Fmtv vs unimog

This is correct, he didn't. He also didn't say LMTV which you provided the specs on. Try that again with the FMTV family and you will find that at least one of your quotes "Carry more weight" is completely inaccurate. I like how you slipped in the biggest baddest Unimog with the punyest...

Not much head to head. http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=fmtv+vs+unimog

    Engines in the CUCV?

Not junk at all. These were designed as a fuel miser not a powerhouse. As long as you factor that in, they are a decent, low cost diesel. Having 6.2 haters keeps the price reasonable.

I was Stuck in the mud

    That's pretty stuck!
