Thanks again Dilvoy. But I'm REALLY looking for an original factory setup here. Because another thing I'm noticing is that there's VERY little room between the frame and the exhaust manifold where the tube would come out of the oil pan... like maybe a half-inch. This makes me skeptical about...
Can't say that I know exactly where your problem is, but I have had critical bolts/screws break off at the worst possible location/time and there are ways to solve this problem.
I would say right off that you will have to VERY CAREFULLY drill into the broken bolt/screw and then use an extractor...
BTW; I see you're in SoCal, maybe this'll help; scored 2 NEW group 31 batts w/950ca and 180mins reserve for $88 bucks a piece at Franklin Truck Parts. Google them, they are all over the SoCal area, good luck.
YEEEEERRRRRR... makin' me wanna' go-bad and git' one O' these darn things...
Been checking out these bobbed deuces for some time now and they DO have a real nice-lookin' stance. (like a healthy woman)
BTW; I'm local to ya', where do get your drive-shaft work done? In your...
Amazing what can be done with duct tape, in an emergency of course. I got a lotta' that red DT leftover from my last job, 3-inch stuff... lemme' know if you need any.
Spare the Duct Tape, Spoil the job.

Guess my 1008 has given up the usual treasures; jack, spare, lugwrench, rifle racks and some radio cabling... but one thing it was missing was a dipstick & tube. Still looking for a replacement.
About the coolest thing just recently discovered, under the driver's seat, was a crumpled-up filthy...
I'm hearing/reading lots of negatives about the OPTIMA batts lately, like they're made in China now and the quality has gone down-hill, and they must be replaced 3-4 times during the replacement warranty. Anyone with recent experience who know if there's any truth to all this?
Thanks for the input bud, but as of today it's a done-deal but it isn't exactly pretty... just sorta' sludgy/dusty stuff still sticking to everything and any bare metal that's exposed is going to my best friend Rusty... think I'll give that Westleys a try and report back...
SALUTE~!
(yer left...
I am a heavy equipment operator by trade but make no claims to be a HDR. My vehicle is M1008. Lately, I've been through about a dozen threads regarding this mod (and there's at least a dozen more) but for the life of me I can hardly make sense out of exactly HOW this is supposed to be...
Oddly enough, I have bought stuff from China that still works fine and never a problem. While I also make an effort to buy products made in USA, some of that stuff has failed on me almost immediately. So USA is not always better and Chines is not ALWAYS bad. 2cents
Hey thanks dilvoy, might give the HUMVEE part a try just to get things moving. But I tried the folks there at Walker and musta' got the resident 'parts-Nazi' 'cause he didn't want to bother with me... anyway, hope you have better luck, best regards,
Dave
Searched, and this OBSCURE problem has not been previously posted. Simple question; Since I can't put both of them in front of me to compare, can anyone tell me if the Engine Oil DIPSTICK/TUBE ASSEMBLY on the later 6.2L HUMVEE oil pan---- IS DIFFERENT--- than the ones on the early 6.2L M1008 oil...
Thanks to all, I surely appreciate your comments. Was a bit wary of doing this but the consensus seems to bear-out that the electrics are fairly stout in these vehicles (as they should be~!) so I'll give it a shot.... clean engine is good, always... thanks again!
