thinking about doing black white and grey camo

What's with the red star? Some kind of OPFOR thing for all the training at Fallon?

Rear Diff Smells like a Sewer PLUS: ID these diff parts???

I believe the original axle that was native to the truck had the foul-smelling gear oil and broken parts. The NOS replacement axle was provided to the first shop by the OP, and the first shop was attempting to absolve themselves from any responsibility. However, they failed to ensure the axle...

12volt needs a jump. Can I do it with the M1009 blazer?

Same question asked in reverse, this thread goes into more detail and has some diagrams. Good safety tip from that thread, too, don't let the vehicles touch.

    weird clicking sound

My speedometer cable is also burned through, except it makes a chirping sound consistent with road speed. The transfer case service is very straightforward, the TM won't steer you wrong. Be sure to remove the top plug (the fill plug) first.

    Code Enforcement

Slightly different situation, but similar vein... True story, as well. I used to live in a town (long before my own addiction) that had a guy with a motor pool's worth of former military vehicles. He owned a corner lot at a stopsign, and had two or three parked in the driveway under repair with...

m1008 voltage gauge in the yellow on start, is that normal?

TM 9-2320-289-20 "Unit Maintenance Manual" Table of Contents (TOC) -- Chapter 3, Engine System ---- Section II, Fuel System ------ Paragraph 17, Fuel Filter -------- Page 52 Fuel filter should be a walk in the park after that alternator rebuild. Be sure to drain the fuel filter prior to...

    Winter's coming for our MEP-003a's

Very cool enclosure! Definitely adding this idea to my long-term wishlist... I'm not terribly familiar with the larger generators, so forgive the noobish questions... But is necessary to remove the side panels of the shelter while the generator is running during inclement weather? Looks like...

    Quick Glow Plug Voltage Question

I found this post particularly helpful in explaining things. When one plug dies, the voltage (and current) applied to the remaining glow plugs increases, because you're force-feeding them 28v (from the bus bar) that gets dumbed-down by the resistor bank. This increase in current causes the rest...

    m1009 parts in southern California

What junkyard were you planning on taking it to? A member here on the forum owns Walker Auto & Truck Wrecking in Hesperia. That might keep the good parts "in the family", so to speak.

What to look for in a M1009 CUCV?

This has been my excuse for not buying an M35 as well. I'd be up a creek if a major power assembly fails. Still, though, a CUCV is going to be a smaller project, but still a project that'll need a lot of love.

    Unimog FLU419 Tractor thing?

Any particular reason for this, Wolf? Thanks in advance!

    Fuel Drain Back hose replacement

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/63721-injector-return-lines.html I initially ignored the advice in this thread and purchased a kit from NAPA very plainly marked "Made in China" ... Less than two months later the rubber had dry-rotted, and I was (once again) spraying diesel all over the engine...

Bingo. Neat design, though, and very good quality.

M1009 CUCV Front drive shaft repair

I have not replaced mine yet, but Denny's has Spicer U-joints and the other parts for the CV joint: Denny's Driveshafts

    Wiper motor swap

I just took apart an M1028 from top to bottom, and this is exactly how I did it. [thumbzup]

NAPA belts and a word of the wise

What NAPA part numbers did you go with? Searching brings up a lot of different part numbers, but the sizes you need will depend on the size of the pulleys on your engine. The part numbers in the Wiki seem to fit trucks with the stock (original) pulleys fine, but if your pulleys have been...

    M1028 with (6) Michelin 395/85R20

Same here, except I was trying to figure out how he mounted six of them...... :hammer: Way to make that rig earn its keep! Takes a hefty load to make those M1028 springs squat like that.

    Help installing alternators m1009

Photo shows what looks like a 6-pin socket? Judging by the gauge of the blue wire in your photo that you've traced, that's probably the "auxiliary" wire that goes to the center pin. The auxiliary pin provides 12v power for stuff like dome lights and other accessories on the trailer itself...

    F-35, first catapult launch

I like this idea. They can go without pay until, say... We recoup that ~16 billion dollars we lost in the course of "saving" Chrysler from bankruptcy. That's a good start.
