The problem I've seen with wet-stacking in a Deuce is that you don't really realize it is happening. All the fuel/crud is building up and you don't know it while it's idling. Then when you hit the accelerator to drive it, a lot of **** blows out all over your truck and whoever is standing...
If you look at the brass tube that feeds air to the tire from the CTIS, it terminates through a hole in the wheel. You can see the grommet in the photo between the brass nut and the valve stem. They are supposed to be torqued at 45 - 60 Lb- Ft, but are commonly found finger tight with dry-rotted...
That is one nice looking A3! I see you also have the fiberglass hood. Mine has the crappy riveted hood - I'm jealout. Are you going to take it back camo or leave it green?
I had a deuce in the Army 1970-71. Mine had OD semi-gloss paint on the engine, same color as the body. I also drove an M715 and it was also the same color on the engine. My current 1969 Kaiser Jeep deuce is also the same color on the engine.
The prices for M66 rings are all over the place as is condition and completeness. I know of one person that said he only paid $500.00 for everything, which is very low, but that was two years ago. The most expensive I've heard anyone pay was $7K and I don't know what it included or the...
Ditto on the show. We had a great time! Some really nice vehicles. I especially enjoyed the machine shop. What a find! I am extremely envious. I didn't get a picture of squirt-truck with his really nice 5-ton, but I did get a picture of Jimma with his Deuce and his 2nd place tropny. I only got...
The biggest problem I have seen on the A3 tires losing air has been the grommets. I have never had a CTIS wheel cylinder leak, not the tubing. The large wheel o-ring hasn't leaked either. Like previously, the grommets are dry rotted and/or loose due to a loose nut. I happen to like the CTIS...
I finally finished mounting my M66 gun ring on my M35A3. I did it by myself which was very difficult and not advised. Also I ran into some difficulties. Installing a gun ring on an A3 is more difficult than an A2 because of the exhaust stack. Also, the cutouts in the cab reinforcement plate...
I haven't heard from anyone. Too bad, there are a lot of MVs in North Georgia and the bigger the convoy, the better. But, I think there will be a very large turnout at the show.
Mine is mounted on an M116A2 trailer. I have previouosly powered the house with the geothermal heat pump running, both ovens on, refrigerator running, air compressor running and a lot of lights on. I forced the refrigerator and heat pump to run to test the output. The meter showed it was...
