I have now sorted out the leg length, but discovered a new problem. The cutouts on the cab reinforcement plate do not line up with the threaded ends of the U-bolts so I cannot get a socket on them. The plate was installed by AM General during the rebuild. I also noticed in the manual (Marine...
After a massive storm came through Hiawassee, Georgia today, the house has been running on my MEP-003a. Trees are down on the power lines so we are likely to have no power from Blue Ridge Mountain EMC anytime soon. We have guests, so it is good that we have the generator. Fired right up...
I picked up an M66 ring mount at the Georgia Rally two years ago and just now got around to installing it on my M35A3. I sandblasted the three legs and primed and painted them. Then I discovered I had a problem. I should have measured the legs before I started, but they looked like they were...
Don't forget to replace the rubber grommets under the valve stem! Also, they need to be torqued to 45-60 Lb-ft. I find that they are more likely to leak than the wheel o-rings, probably because when touched, they disturb the seal.
For those that want to join the convoy from Hiawassee, we're going to line up in the Ingles parking lot at 0800. The Ingles is right in the middle of town - easy to find. I believe we have three deuces, with a possibility of a fourth. I'll be towing my M149A2. Anyone wanting to join the...
I ran into a guy in Golden Valley, Minnesota with an A3 a few weeks ago that paid $17K for his A3 WO/W from a private party. He got it a couple of years ago and it was VERY rough and rusty. I didn't have the heart to tell him he got taken. At least he was happy with it because it ran good.
Every type of oil listed in the previous posts is excellent oil. I don't think the particular brand is nearly as important as making sure it is good oil with the correct specs for the application. Good oil doesn't necessarily mean a higher price either.
Moto,
It's good to hear that you have your truck back - - and are enjoying it. I noticed that the more I drive my A3, the smoother the transmission shifts. I suspect that even though I did a large number of drain / refill cycles with the Dexron III, that there was still some motor oil trapped...
The Blairsville Garden Club in Blairsville, Georgia is having a plant sale this weekend. They needed to transport a large number of plants to the Union County Farmers Market today for the sale. I was asked to provide my two Deuces to help with the plant move. A friend drove my A3 and I drove...
My A3 came from Sparta as well, same auction and low miles/hours So far so good with the Allison transmission. I guess I got lucky. I used the drain and flush method to switch to Dexron III. Dexron III made the transmission operate much smoother. My only complaint with the drive train is...

It is likely that one of the three springs is missing or has come loose. It only takes a few minutes to check it out. Everything is easy to get to to see
