I would like to try a set but it's very unlikely that GL will liquidate a pallet or 8 of them to get the price closer to my soon to be fixed retirement income. The CUCVs were well on the way out the door before this technology was ever purchased by Uncle Dod!

Dually hubs are not that difficult to find. More folks looking for the single wheel stuff. The 2 1/2" spacers would be just fine for the rear. Many run aluminum ones with no problems but I would caution you to through a few re-tightening sequences on them. You would have to get the dually...
Many run them with spacers. If you take the time to scroll down to the bottom of the page, the site has already done some searching for you and put up several related threads. Go forth and read/learn.
I'm going to have to agree with you on this. Dell has always went out of his way to improve others. He's offered stuff that he didn't have any for sale just to help others and has always been gracious. Thanks Dell for being at the pinnacle of membership here on Steel Soldiers.
There was one member here who did a cab/forward conversion. Also there are several that have been "trimmed" in many areas fo facilitate off roading. Losing the steps, relocating the fuel tank minimizing fenders etc. Look at the FEMTT and SEMTT threads to see what folks are doing to 5 tons and...
Thanks for all the help folks! Here's hoping for a speedy EUC return! If Phil's trip doesn't work out I will likely try to do the ChevyC60 and MDMORGAN route to get the trailer closer for the trip.
No reason you couldn't remove them and bolt them back but that's an aweful lot of work and money on hardware just to clean. If you've got the time and money, go for it!
