One thing to keep in mind with this truck is that you can't even drive it on the road without getting oversize permits due to its width. It wouldn't do all that well in a truck pull unless you were able to a lot of weight on the back drives, then watch out cause these things have some nuts to them.
We've got a few more than whats listed on the website, but it pretty much covers everything. Best thing is most of it is operational, not just flower pots.
Very nice work guys, its nice to see other museums restoring artifacts to an operational level, not just a flower pot.
Any chance you get to go work at a museum on this stuff (either volunteer or paid, doesn't matter to me personally) the benefits you reap from youf time spent there are well...
Well that just means I just stocked up on the supply for my firepit in my backyard then. Willing to bet the ash borer doesn't live in 6x6 boards though.
I was towing a deuce with my deuce last year. As I was turing off a paved road onto a gravel road the towed deuce decided to continue straight a head versus following me. It slide my deuce to the side a little bit before it turned and followed. Just think what it will do to your 3/4 ton pickup...
So I was told there are bonfires there at night. I was able to source some scrap 6x6 and 4x4 boards for firewood. I have an entire pickup bed full of wood cut that I'll be brining along.
The "needing either for cold starts" may just be from the fuel system having air leak into it after the truck has been shut down for a while combined with a non-functioning in-tank fuel pump. Have seen several trucks need ether to start the first time (or a lot of cranking) because of this...
Like jwaller said that are 2 sets of bolts (1 set for each shoe). One above the axle and one below the axle. If I remember correctly the upper bolts are a "fine" adjustment and the bottoms are the "coarse" adjustment. They are a camshaft system so you don't just crank on them to make the...
While you're into the axle that far I would check you axle seals and brake cylinder. As far as extra stuff to just replace the shoes not that I know of. You'll need to adjust them once you have it back together.
Hope you get good news on the truck.
Its got the 6.2 Chevy diesel, not the best diesel in the first place to be trying to up power. Kind of like the MF, it was designed for A, not worth the effort to go to B or C as you'll end up blowing it up.
One other thing to note about asphalt, fresh asphalt will tear up easier than something that has been around a year or so. Chipstone is crap as far as holding up to any kind of wear, its just tar on top of the exisiting with some chip rock in it. No strength there what so ever.
2004 F350 Crew Cab SRW with diesel is just under 10,000 lbs per my sticker. Doesn't hurt my driveway normally. Now I did have about 4400 lbs of paving stones in it a couple of summers ago on a 100+ degree day and I can still see where the rear wheels were sitting. My deuce sat in my driveway...
