Say I wanted a deuce that had a/c, more power, and was quiet and comfy and stuff. Why not get a 2wd F-550 or so and stick the deuce t-case and axles under it?
Kinda like this. I don't quite like how this looks though. The NDTs are old school and the body style is too modern. Think it would be...
Well, I do just happen to run a machine and welding shop....
Ever see the boober deuce they guy took the steps off of and relocated the battery and toolbox up in the back for clearance? Think it had no bed, strictly offroad setup. Wish I could find pics. I think it had 49" tires and a...
It's called OVERHEAD. Sure, some guys might charge more than they need to, but not most I think/hope.
Here's an example. I am the foreman at my grandfather's machine and welding shop. My mom (his daughter) is the CEO.
There are 30 employees. about 15 work in the machine/weld shop and "make...
If it had an additional STEERING axle, it wouldn't have a problem steering, would it? Search XM410
It wouldn't be pointless. It has often been pointed out that the tire to weight ratios in a deuce are very lopsided. 8 tires in the back with a bed sitting on them. 2 tires in the front with the...
We sell bolts at my shop. I don't know where my purchasing guy gets them, but it's from a local distributor for an American CO. There is a FXstXnXl across the street. I have had customers (US Gypsum) tell me their bolts broke and ours didn't under testing after they had some issues with breakage.
Driveshaft parts shouldn't be too bad. I think a 5 ton is 1410 series which is not uncommon. A good truck/industrial driveshaft shop should be able to help you out. If you have a hard time, let me know. I should be able to figure out what you need at where to get it based on dimensions. Mainly...
I was thinking just the front aired down to 15 or 20 psi and back up to 30 or 40 when i go offroading. 4 tires to float the back, shouldn't have to air down much.
Can a deuce compressor be taken off the engine and used on other engines? Married or divorced setup? How much might a guy get one for?
How about airing up 395s? Probably need a reserve tank eh? I liek the idea of a big reserve that's initially filled off a shop. How about adding a second comp to the deuce?
Here's a link to a related thread.

I built it, but I run a machine and welding shop so it's not exactly home built. I did slap it together with junk I had around the shop, so it's not pretty but it's strong. The tow boom frame is open channel.
I was referring to my truck's factory frame in the statement you are asking about...
