I have an extra VR for a MEP-016B. I still have another gen set to start/test but I was wondering what an untested VR is worth? And, what about a verified working VR?
As I get everything sorted and tested I'll start listing extra parts on ebay and in the classifieds. I just can't seem to find...
I think the VR from my MEP-016B will work for 3kW, 5kW, and 10kW applications.
I am not sure because I don't have a 5kW or 10kW but there is info on the VR for wiring those size gens.
I got a Kubota 12.5kW with a bad gen head.
I found a like new, takeoff Marathon gen head on ebay for $500.
A coach company switched out the single phase head for a three phase head on a new coach. The head came with an AVR.
Unfortunately the head was one SAE pattern and the bell housing was...
The last gen sets I got were a mix of F7 and H7. The one I tested still had oil and fuel and fired up immediately when hooked to two car batteries in series.
Yanmar calls for 10W30 so I assume multi viscosity is OK in them.
I don't think a good oil would have a problem in most air cooled engines.
What does Onan say about the commercial air cooled sets?
If possible, just replace the tube.
I'd clean the wiring contacts, too. Some of the cables shown in the pics are attached with rusty hardware. Corrosion in and on electrical connections is like cancer that needs to be eradicated or it will cause trouble.
I got the Yanmar started today. I haven't re-connected the gen head wiring yet but the motor runs fine.
I put oil in, loosened the fuel line at the injector, held the compression release, and pulled the rope about 5-6 times until some fuel started leaking form the loose line at the injector.
I...
If it has the Bacteria or Algae or whatever you will want to clean it thoroughly or you will have problems down the road.
I would try to find a steam cleaner first. Failing that I would stop by an auto pressure washer place and try high pressure water.
A radiator shop or machine shop can...
