What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I think I will go with that one because of the zero leak and two because I get a company discount through them.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

JC, I tightened that nut as far as it could be tightened and it still leaked like a sive. But the oil kit was the easiest thing I have ever done, much obliged!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I had a great day until the block heater come into play. I changed the fuel filter, then greased everything and was amazed that all of the zirts were pointing down! I then drained the oil ( the box chute worked perfectly again)and installed the oil filter adapter. I then drained all the coolant...

    New good quality block heater?

I have tried to start my M923 yesterday at -4(I think it was) no go. I also tried at 10-15 and it just barely started. But I will say that I think if I put a battery tender on it I would have better success.

    New good quality block heater?

I have used a oil warmer in the past for an old Ford truck I had. It was a dipstick that you just inserted into the oil pan and it worked. Before no start and after started right up. Has anyone tried this model? I hope so because I bought it...

    New good quality block heater?

Right, I have seen these threads, but I haven't noticed a specific heater that was in wide spread use or widely suggested by members . I was also looking for one on the lower side that might perform well for a year or so,until I get fully back on my feet!

    939 series 14.00 x 20 air pressure

I also found the same stamp on 2 different type of wheels ,That I installed the 14's on. I almost didn't see it either until I took a smoke brake after flipping one and started to air it up. The paint was just enough to cover it from plain sight. So I keep mine at 70psi.

    Fixing Out of round Tires

I run the Michellin XZL in size 14.00 R20. Stamped on the wheel itself it reads MAX 85lb TIRE PRESSURE. So I filled them to 70 and the truck rides pretty nice. I've only put about 40 miles on it though.

Bow and tarp install , and spare tire info needed for M923!

I did some research and found on the deuce forum that the middle section or overhead section of the bow is a standard 74.5" for both the deuce and the 5 ton. So of course I measured mine and what do ya know 70" exactly. That is the reason why they won't fit or have a serious inward slant to...

Bow and tarp install , and spare tire info needed for M923!

Jc, Thanks for the info, but I only have one troop seat and was wanting to put the tarp on for winter since it's stored outside. If I did have the other troop seat the staves wouldn't fit in it either. They are about 4" to narrow to fit in the slots.

Bow and tarp install , and spare tire info needed for M923!

When I got home from work I checked to see if I could move the bed and of course I can't not easily anyway, So I think I found an alternative solution. When I get started on that I will post progress or failure. But on to the bows , I think the bows I have are the wrong ones. I'm thinking these...

Bow and tarp install , and spare tire info needed for M923!

I finally got around to trying to install the bows and tarp, but the forward most bow wouldn't go in all the way, seemed like it was way to narrow. I looked at my Tm that came with the truck and couldn't figure out if I actually need 5 or 6 bows. I'm sure it's 6 but the TM shows 5 in one pic and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

I cleaned all my lenses, the proper way with 1000,and 3000 grit sandpaper and polished with scratch remover turned out pretty good. Although I destroyed one of the red lenses trying one of those"easy" fixes that did not work.I also did my mother's headlights in the same fashion. I added those to...

    A 5 Ton Headache

I agree, You may have to replace the orings on the primer pump, very easy and quick to do. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago and within a few pumps fuel was gushing out. I think they are 1/2" o rings.
