I don't have much experience with trucks larger than a pickup, so telling when you have correctly adjusted your bearings is difficult for me and I'll have to drive the truck to see if excessive heat is generated.
I believe I have an idea why my axle was leaking. I remember when I removed the...
it is a military seal, I believe. The reason I think this is the case is because the brakes are new, some of the tires are new with the nubs, and the rest are like new. It also would make sense that new seals would be installed.
My truck sat a very long time for reasons I won't get into now, but new seals were installed along with brakes and tires, grease and gear oil were changed.
I dismantled the leaking hub and can find nothing wrong. The seal that was apparently leaking looks good. There was a cork wedge in the...
Figured it out.... I jacked up only one side and that created the bind. Once I jacked up the other wheel the shaft came out. I hope my experience may benefit somebody else that reads this.
I'm reviving this old thread because I have a similar problem. I need to change an axle seal and after removing the screw that holds the shaft it wouldn't move like the above poster. The screw is not broken is the difference. I hit it lightly to get it moving and it came out about 2 inches and...
CUCV's are not built the same. The Blazers have a different drivetrain from the pickups. The pickups are geared low and a turbo would help with heavy loads, but not do anything to increase your top speed. The huge drum brakes work well for the truck as designed. Disc brakes are better with...
My experience is... GP will charge you sales tax, because they have a blanket policy to charge you. Their tax expert is only adept at reading you their policy. They know little about the individual states sales tax laws because that would take some effort. It is easier to charge the tax and have...
I think the military rated it for off road limits. The problem I had was more weight behind pushing me around from behind at speeds over 45. The hitch never gave me any problem, but I was gentle with it.
Nice looking truck! It is really a plus to have good neighbors. I had to hide my deuces and 5 ton because I had a neighbor complaining to the authorities, and even tho he said the county misunderstood him, once the compliance dept got started they don't stop and they have a ordinance for...
I just brought a M35 deuce home this morning that had been sitting about 8 years, dead batteries and not started the entire time. It had sunk into the ground almost to the axles. On the way the throttle return spring broke giving me full throttle when I didn't want it. It just so happens that...
Along those lines about your neighborhood not liking your military vehicles......I may be an army of one, but I consider knitting and crocheting to be a disgusting waste of time. It should be banned! My county needs a new ordinance, they do not have this atrocious behavior covered yet(everything...
I had my 1st relay go out recently and would have bought the one posted above in a heartbeat. Mine would no longer make a connection. Didn't lose any smoke thankfully.
I want a relay that when it does fail (all things do) it acts like a burnt fuse and doesn't weld the contacts and continue to...
It was the ignition switch. I had worked it yesterday, but not enough. Today we sprayed it with brake cleaner, and worked it on and off for 5 minutes, re-connected the batteries and after a few more tries got power to the pink wire on the GPR. After that, and a ten second wait, she started right...
OK, my next question is where is the source of power for the pink wire on the GP relay? It sounds like I'm barking up the wrong tree. I don't have power to the pink wire(or blue). I thought the controller supplied the voltage, but it only completes the circuit. The key switch does work when it...
Thanks to both of you guys. I couldn't get any voltage to either terminal that actuates the GPS, and it remains silent when the key turns on. It does have power to it waiting to be switched. I did check the engine control fuse and it is good and I did clean it with no effect. Now that I know...
