HH,
Your axels are better keep them. 12 miles @ 65 is fine. I have driven hundreds coming back from field sites or rally events, I have even pushed it to 70 but not for long. Your truck should serve you well as is, if you want to modify it later to better suit your needs that option is...
Ok here is the skinny, I drive my '86 M1008 daily and at highway speed (55-60) often. The deal is that M1008's (and M1028's) were meant to be a work horse thus meant to tow and haul more gear. The M1009's were meant to be Command and Control vehicles and were geared to run faster.
It really...
Wow, I have been in the field some this week and missed this thread. SP1 I'm glad it worked out for you! Many thanks Ferro and the rest of the SC crew that helped out. Once again I am reminded why I love this site so much! Great job guys!

Sorry for the late welcome, somehow I missed this thread.
I'm a UAV Warrant Officer now but in my previous life I was a 11B3P (5W) with scout plt and LRSD time. Welcome to Steel Soldiers! Currently I'm North of you at FT Lewis (1st SFG (A) ) If you ever need me to screen any GL stuff up here...

CJ,
I am sorry to hear of your plight, but I can't help but observe a pattern here. I know guys that have lost their jobs and loved ones that don't ask for as much as you seem to do on a regular basis. I will probably get misunderstood by many in making this this post. I am not bashing...
I am getting the notifications via e-mail but for a period (when I created thread) the links did not work. Things seem to working again as the page just opened when I clicked the link.

P.S. Thanks for all the work to keep this site up MOD's, Mike, and Chris[thumbzup]

Not true, we used modified CUCV's for Desert Storm. We even had a pick-up without it's windshield so we could bolt a M60 tripod to the hood (yes we had to wear goggles to operate). What make this idea so laughable? Think about the old "Rat Patrol" gun jeeps before you answer. Sure no way...
