    Loose Front Hub HELP!!

OK, perhaps a minor clarification. Snap ring implies you can open it with the correct pliers. not so thing more like a complete circular metal spring ring. You have to carefully pry it out. When you get to a point where you can't take the outer wheel bearing off (I think that was it)...

    Loose Front Hub HELP!!

Has anyone here actually disassembled an 09 from the spindle out? I have. It's not exactly the same as a regular Chevy front hub. There is an additional snap ring that you can't see AND a locking key-way and key that if you do not remove it properly you will screw it up. I worked very...

What Shocks Are you Running on your 1009?

Just put Monroe Gas Magnums on the front and coil overs on the rear. WOW, what a huge improvement. Ride comfort, handling, and braking were all improved. Total cost was about $220. Installation is a breeze. I think I'm going to do my other 09 the same way.

    Weak wiper motor

Drabbedout, Don't take this the wrong way, but about two or three minutes at my local parts store (several to choose from) and about $80 gets me an OEM new one. While I do appreciate the 'hunt' and making do, this just seemed to me to be a bit of a stretch. Especially for a part that is...

    Got The Shaft, Vibration Gone!

NAH, it just costs money to rebuild it. As long as you don't do any damage to the transfer case, you're good. My DS was damaged on my M1028A2 and I drove it home with a vibration at about that speed (2k miles). The teeth on the yoke were chipped and one or two were partially missing. About...

    Aftermarket Trans Pan?

Yup. Two TH400's rebuilt, two tranny coolers added. I don't abuse my trucks, so I have not added a tranny temp gauge. But now I am going to think about it.

    Aftermarket Trans Pan?

The tranny pan for the TH400 in the HMMWV has the drain plug in it. It's the correct pan for the job. THEY ARE TOUGH TO FIND THOUGH. No one seems to know where to find them. If anyone knows a source for the HMMWV TH400 tranny pan, I would love to know. I have one on my TH400 in my M1028A2...

    Fuel spill

A couple. Check the overflow tube on the fuel filter block. Check up under the passenger side door frame. That's where there is one piece of rubber tubing to connect to steel fuel line from the back to the steel fuel line from the front. It is also the place the military commonly mounted an...

    Need FUEL IN WATER SENSOR

The water in fuel sensor is NOT necessary. The last three bases I have purchased did not them. I spoke with Stanadyne and they said that part is no longer made. The ONLY way you will find one is NOS... Good luck. I finally gave up.

    Leaking fuel filter assembly

Realize that these are twenty five year old trucks. Metal can fatigue. One of the things I do first off is to just replace the fuel filter, it's base and bracket. It just gives me a known good place to start. You can mess with it for weeks or years (like I did) or just get a new one and move...

    My new M1009 CUCV!

Barney the Deuce said it best. Bring a trailer or a correct military tow bar. GET IT HOME, then do all the maintenance. You will be hard pressed if GL lets you do ANYTHING to your truck on their property. Once off GL (and generally speaking whatever military base they are located on) then...

    24 volt nato jumper cables

Good job. Yeah, got one also. I think I paid $125 from a buddy in our club about a year ago. BUUTTT.... it's been used three times so far. I've got three CUCV's and it does come in handy. For sure.

    Fresh Resto 5 M1009

Dave, Sorry for a stupid question. Is there any specific reason you don't remove the top prior to paint? It's just a question. And I flat love the Navy gray. That's why I asked. When you change colors like that how many coats to get a good coverage? Love it. Can't wait to see the finish...

transmissions slips until warmed up. How to replace?

Combat Jump, Yah, been there. Though I will admit one of my M1009's is currently sitting. I'm about to take it in to a shop to have it rebuilt, which will occur some time next week. All the same symptoms, except I did the flush thing three times. STILL didn't matter. Like you said, no go...

Why do people bash the CUCV?

You folks ARE aware that the 6.2L has also been used in marine applications, as well as buses, bread trucks and almost EVERY light/medium truck GM produced, right? 6.2L Detroit diesels in marine applications - Google Search

    6TL battery refurb/reconditioned battery

6TL's ONLY. In all mine. I have a 24v charger. I'm getting ready to add Solargizers, so that will be that.

    here we snow again!

Old Ag, That's why I left Houston. I mean I don't expect to see a white Xmas in the greater Houston area, but I've always felt that HAVING to turn on the A/C at Xmas was just wrong. Unless you live below the equator, then OK, maybe.

M1009 Featured in Four Wheeler in 2006

Yeah, but, but... It gave him an excuse to throw away a ton of cash. and it looks so kewl well, at least to him and the EDITORS OF FOUR WHEELER. Shows how the public views our hobby. Sad really. At least the editor from Diesel Power is an MV guy...

    CUCV-II, South Florida Rebuild

Stonepicker1, Thank you for posting all this. And $400 is exactly what I paid for my M1028A2 drive shaft about one year ago. I've got a couple of M1009's. But you! You've REALLY got a great set of trucks going! Many a lesser being would have given up LONG before now. Again. Thx. Now...

    Dually Conversion (For looks)

Go on Ebay for the wheels. I got a second spare a year ago for my M1028A3 for about $75 shipped if my memory serves. Just look for a mid 80's Chevy/GM dually. That will get you the wheels. IF you want ALL EIGHT of them, I might have a guy with a set. But ONLY if you want. And JC Whitney...
