um let's see
1. the rear main seal is a one piece with a metal retainer.
2. the rear main cap is held on by two bolt's that go though the rear main seal
housing.
3. yes you need to remove the tranny and flywheel to get the rear cap off,
but pulling the tranny is a piece of cake goes like this...
two thing's, 1. to pull the rear main bearing cap you need to remove the rear main seal(look below) and 2. fill the cylinders part way with coke(yeah the soda) my uncles swear by it.
low oil pressure, high hours for a deuce(at least from what I've seen) your bearings are in bad shape may be tost if it was me first chance I got I would pull the oil pan.
my local marine recruiter was in the transportation core he said CTIS is and always will be a HUGE pain in the back side
takes 60 mins to fill a tire(what he said) wheel weighs 300lbs(also what he said) so I'm thinking bad idea.
