Did you end up welding the motor mounts or did they bolt in? You used the 6.2 mounts or ???? I ask because this may be a project soon. Any other OH-NO pitfalls? Thanks for the post and have fun with your new monster!
Drained 4 buckets of this s@@@ outta my 5 this morning after refueling yesterday. I let the inconvenience store know of their swill they were selling and said they will refund me--- yeah right
Worked on my hub drain plugs. One actually came out with allen wrench. Drilled centers out, the used an ez-out to remove. Took a little over two hours. Installed new plugs that take a 5/8 wrench to remove. Snugged tight-- not put back with a 1/2 inch breaker bar. Oh and Happy T-day
After chasing a coolant fan problem for a few days I finally fixed it. Bad time delay module. The fan kicks on after 220, closer to 230-- I'm going to hit it with my heatgun today and see where it really is. I hate when gauges read at the edge of their limits, but if that's the way it is I guess...
If you really want a kick in the pants-- my tag looks like the day they handed it to me.... Why? Never put it on. It is slid in my headliner. Drive all over and never been stopped. I have no military markings on my bumpers.
I have a antique tag on my 1990 923. It is registered as a former mv. My one buddy has a regular tag on his and uses it every day in his tile business. Never been pulled over or harassed. Guess I'll see you at the next parade or gas station.
I have tagged two 5 tons and have several friends that own mv. None of us have ever been told to and from parade/gas station. We drive them anywhere we want. I have even been complemented by several different police departments. Went to tag office and tagged it just like a ford truck.
Tried to do just what you are trying to do. I ended up pulling the stack. Make sure you didn't damage your shroud. I replaced my fan blade with a new one from kaskar before my truck left my driveway!
Bulldogger-- if it were me, I'd leave it alone. I know its tempting, but you may make a slight leak worse. I do have MR.MURPHY'S cell phone # if you want to give him a call and see what he thinks. lol
Bulldogger-- Glad to (see) that you have evolved from the stone ages! The Amish headlight system on the military vehicles is a joke. The blackout lights are brighter than the headlights..... lol
I would not recommend changing to a 12v charging system. You will create a ton of problems, let alone spending a small fortune on replacement parts. I would recommend a delco replacement and a 24/12 volt convertor.
Looks good Bulldogger. Painted my white artic top od green as well. At least its green now-- and it took 6 cans to cover it, but for a free new in the box 4 man top I'm not complaining.
