I bid on what I thought was a decent deuce at Barstow - no preview of course......
Got outbid this morning and while I was in chat with a bunch of great guys, I started bidding on the shop trucks. It was a nail biter, but my small bid of just over 1100 held and I won!! I learned a ton of stuff...
Any ideas how they treat Active Duty types who want to preview? I know all the locations I have called were all super friendly after I introduced myself. I just wonder if we have an "edge" if we have the ID.
I guess I missed that rule. Probably because I didn't read very closely. Sorry. Even though I violated it probably twice since joining no one has screamed at me or banned me so there is some level of understanding for the FNGs. :)
I swear on my salty anchors not to do it again!
Just wondering if some GL sites have a rep for having better quality stuff than others. I know there are threads talking about which sites have better/worse people to deal with, but are there any bases that normally have good trucks/trailers while others only seem to have crap?
I know in the...
Thanks! I measured the stack of springs and think I'll lose 3 inches. I can drop another 3 inches with tires for a total of six. I need about 2 inches to sit level with my current pintle set up, so anything extra is just gravy.
But, before I run out and buy tires, I need to wait on this...
Thanks. I got that from a previous post. Problem was, the rear (or maybe the front) wasn't there. I didn't have the pieces so we fabbed up everything. Made for a great father son project though.
Now I need to know if I can run 7.50 civie tires on it and if so how much height would I lose...
So I bought a cheap M105 last month. Drug it out of a farmers field up by Barstow so it probably came from up there way back when. Data plate says 1956, it's got a single wheel landing gear. We rigged up some civie lights, crossed our fingers with the ugly looking tires and came home slow. No...
His place is fairly close, he looks to have a decent selection so that should help me get an idea of what I want.
So far I'm thinking fairly clean, probably hardtop, winch, bobbed, super singles, but no huge lift. Probably dont need heat, but wouldnt turn it down.
Anything else I might...
Not yet. I called up there and talked to Travis who said they brought them in on a flatbed. Without a preview and without ever even sitting in one before I backed off.
My current plan is to go see 100DollarMan and try to figure out what I want. Maybe for the 2nd or 3rd deuce I'll go GL.
I'm going to try calling up there later and get some info. I'm guessing that's probably not the best way, but I'm hoping since I'm an active duty guy (senior chief/E8) and used to be stationed there, I can leverage some usefull info. If not, I might try to get ahold of a duty van and sneak up...
If it runs it's about 30 miles to my house (I could cross the weapons station). If it needs a tow, it would be longer since I would have to get it around the weapons station to the 15.
Man, I haven't even ever sat in one, let alone driven one. How crazy is it to buy one via 3 pics on the...
How acurate are the Condition Codes usually?
Man I was sick all day yesterday and today I'm stuck in the vanpool. Now I'm kicking myself for not driving in so I could cut out early and go check the trucks out before dropping a bid.
Then again, I'm not sure I REALLY want one. I think I do...
Couple deuces there have my interest. Would be a pretty easy recovery to Wildomar.............
Then again, maybe not..................
I think I want a bobbed deuce - already done...........
Maybe. Sure would be fun to commute to Naval Station once in awhile in one.
I'll keep watching...
