I do not think 15" rims will give you enough room between your disc brakes. I would stay with 16" rims for sure. 8 lug 15" rims are pretty much a custom made item. IF you MUST go that route I believe "Stockton Wheels" can make you up a set. The cheapest way to go would be to use your spares rim...
From what I have read the stock head bolts tend to loosen up over time. I wonder if that is the cause of your head gasket failure? I would go with ARP studs. In fact thats what I will go with when I rebuild my 6.2.
We do the same for our Christmas trees. We make a family outing of it in my snowcat. No one has ever checked to see if we have a permit. But we get two anyway.
