Man that's the first rotor I have seen chewed up on the outside , i've seen a bunch ground to the fins with no rotor surface on the inside though. :shock:

Bad titles to threads is one of the biggest problems all around , especially when it comes to searching. But HELP and EMERGENCY seems to be the most abused .
Have you inspected the front brakes ? It sounds like a caliper is hanging up or frozen , look for excessive wear on the inner pad , it ussually points to a bad caliper. Also were the front brakes bled with the rears , there could be air in one of the fronts .
It' a expensive hobby . You can fix it right the first time or cobble it and let it nickel and dime you to death . I would rather fix it right the first time instead of trying to fix it again in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere . I figure my time is worth more than to spend it...
I would say the only thing you should have to teach your mechnic is the electricial system on a CUCV . If you have to teach them about diesels , find a different mechanic . Everyting on a CUCV is the same as a civy truck except the electrical system .

With your short time frame you may either have to go recover it yourself and drive it back or hire a local heavy towing company which will be expensive.
I found after bring the truck home from GL and needing to do a break inspection with it stored in the middle of nowhere and a 6 foot pipe and 3/4 breakerbar laughed at me . I call the local tire guy to come out and break everything loose for $25 best money ever spent . Then torque back on by hand.
