M36A3 added lockouts, flipped the copper disc in starter solenoid and dressed up the contacts, replaced all of the O rings near fuel filter base. Installed new fuel filter. She runs sweet and no leak!
Seems like starter motor really spins fast now.
Solenoid is done. Was able to remove solenoid while starter was still in truck. Easy to remove. Flipped the copper piece-was unused on opposite side. Dressed the terminals and re-installed. Works great. Truck is done-no issues.
Gary,
No worries. I am happy to remember how to get back home sometimes!
Reporting success on fuel leak!!!! Very happy. This leak deal drove me crazy. I understand the fuel system in an around the filter. Replaced the O-rings-all of them and cleaned cleaned cleaned. She is dry no. Now am going...
Jared,
I got it from Eriks M35. He is a good guy to deal with.
It looks stout and should work well. Pull on the handle and rotate for cut off. I am planning on installing before or after relay switch for starter. The alternate would be right under the passenger seat making cabling to battery...
Thanks for the compliment on the box-I just bought it-didnt design or build it. The shiny piece behind the box is a HEPA filter for the food process industry. We manufacture equipment for large food companies here. Most of what we design/build is stainless steel. See attached pictures.
We build...
Was thinking that it maybe the front axel. Is it possible to simply remove the front hub covers and try it-sort of like running with lockout unlocked.
If running without axels doesnt find it-hope you have more family members ready to sign on for hazard duty.
OK-will do. Slop and bearings are never a match. The growl now has me maddened. Perhaps I will strap a human under the truck and drive around to see where the growling tiger is hiding.
Have you narrowed down as to where your growl is coming from?
I used a crow bar on my carrier bearing. It moves up and down easily-about 1/2". It looks like there is a bearing that rides in a rubber bushing. It looks like the whole assembly-rubber bushing and all moves up and down freely. Does not seem correct.
Maybe because of this, at slow speed the...
Here is a picture to help. My truck came without a passenger side mat. I did spill (need to use a long turkey neck funnel) on the floor. If I had a mat on this side, would have made a real mess.
Gary,
I did clean the check valve-she was super gummed up. The prime issue came from replacing all of the O-rings on the fuel lines that exit from the fuel filter base. Mine had a simple leak that became a larger one when I chased it. There are two sizes of O-rings on the fittings. When I was...
The door is under the mat near the transmission hump. Its on the upsloped portion of floor. To fill it without spilling fluid all over, Wallmart has a long black bellows type funnel with square extended lip. Couple bucks and works perfect for filling the tube.
I did this in an A3-mine has the rubber floor matts and is very quiet compared to my duece. Tried it-its pretty good. No reason to crank Johnny Cash loud anyway.
I recently replaced the o rings in my fuel system (A3) and ended up with a deep purge issue. Ran stater harder than normal. Now when I try to start it, I can hear the relay on firewall click but no starter engage. Takes about 10 trys to get it to engage starter. Did I hot spot the solenoid disc...
I think aviation headset is a better program, however in MN its not legal.
I used Amazon and got the parts very inexpensively. the 24 to 12 VDC convert was about 40 bucks. I think its good for 20 amps. The stereo is a Pioneer with mp3 (need to bring Johny Cash with me)-paid about 75 bucks. The...
Put a stereo in my A3. Used a 12 to 24 VDC convertor with a heavy duty on off toggle switch. Found cheap boxed speakers and Pioneer stereo on Amazon.
Made a plate that bolts to side of shift tower-used existing holes. Bought a plastic radio housing and mounted to plate. The antenea got mounted...
Its cold up here and have not driven her enough to get transmission warm. I did however drive her home 180 miles and found the 2 to 1 a real harsh shift. It was a cold day and no load so perhaps transmission was not warmed. I plan on doing the trans fluid here in the next couple of weeks...
Try loosening up your emergency brake. Turn the handle and get it loose-then push lever down releasing e-brake. Now try forward and back. I had a similar thing happen to my A3. The e brake was wedging a bit on rotor.
If that doesnt work-then make certain to re-adjust brake so she holds truck...
