EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

I talked with the GL guys at Sparta. It appears that the truck most likely won't start easily due to the cold and sitting time. They believe the batteries are probably frozen. I've made arrangements for someone with a large wrecker to join me and help me get it started and check it out before...

    1952 M35 REO in Progress

You have a nice project going and will end up with a very good truck. Keep the pictures coming on the progress!

    Enjoyed the pictures - thanks!

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

I have absolutely no experience with this, but wouldn't mixing kerosene with the diesel degrade the lubrication of the IP?

    MEPs on Casters

I have not put casters under my MEP-003A, but if I did, I would put the type on that lock up so that it didn't roll around when running

    Anatomy of a Deuce Generator

I would definitely order a new resistor and repair it. This should be a simple fix and you will have your generator back.

EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

I don't want to get rid of my A2. I love that truck and it is the same model I drove in the Army way back when. I don't know what I'm going to do. I plan on recovering the A3 this coming Monday. I talked to the GL rep and he told me that none of the trucks are starting up there due to the...

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

Wetstacking happens with diesel engines when they are run without sufficient loading, which means they run too cold. Unburned fuel will enter the exhaust stack.

    MEP-006a overkill and wetstacking

Congratulations on the win. The other issue you have is that the MEP-006A is 3-phase only. If you power your house with it, you will need single phase power. If you try this, the genset load will be unbalanced. I agree with Ferroequinologist that the best option is to sell the genset and try...

My First Deuce Arrived (Long post with Pics)

Nice looking truck! Brakes are the most important part of the truck. Make sure you check the brake fluid level and top it off with DOT 5 fluid. I wouldn't drive the truck until you fix the faulty low air pressure alarm. Also, never, never slip the clutch on a deuce. This clutch is designed...

EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

Thanks Tom. Actually, I was up in your neck of the woods last week and the week before in Portsmouth, Ohio. Combination of work and visiting a sick relative. You are correct, my route home will be much further west, but I appreciate the offer. I got lucky driving my A2 home ~700 miles and...

EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

I got it for $7500.00, way more than I wanted to pay, but it appears to be extremely nice. Still has part of the plastic covering on the drivers seat from AM General. The price is dictating that either the A3 or A2 must go or I will need to find a new wife!

EUC in 12 Days for M35A3 at Sparta

M35A3 Recovery at Sparta after EUC in 12 Days I won the bidding on an A3 at Sparta. Now I have a problem, albeit a somewhat good problem. My EUC issued in only 12 days and I now have minimal time to plan for my pickup. I plan on driving the A3 back to Georgia. The A3 appears to be in excellent...

    m35a3 charging system

A few questions first 1. What is the condition of your batteries? 2. Have you cleaned all battery terminals and checked for loose wires on alternator? 3. Will the batteries charge up with a battery charger? 4. What is the voltage output from the alternator? 5. What does the gauge read...

What is the lowest temp your deuce started in

I just started my Deuce at +5 deg about a week ago. I gave it one shot of ether and it fired right up. When I was stationed in Germany 1970-71, I started my Deuce at -20 deg and colder. Maybe as low as -30 deg, but I can't remember exact temperatures. We normally did not have any problems...

    Best Diesel Generator

I'm another one that swears by the MEP-003A - a fantastic genset to power the house, shop, or whatever. Not good for your needs though if you want to mount it under a truck.

    m35a2 winch problems

I sometimes have to really hit the lever hard wth my hand or 'slam' it in and out a few times with my hand if my winch hasn't been used in a while. The more I use my winch, the better it seems to work.

    M35A2 vs A3

I don't like to see MVs cut up or modified either.

    another New Guy from Ohio

Welcome to Steel Soldiers from a former 11D that also served in Germany, albeit 40 years ago. Our 11C guys fired four deuce mortars at that time. Time to get an MV!

    deuce mirrors , different types

The Deuce I drove in the Army (1970-71) had the small mirrors, as did all the deuces in my unit at the time. My 1969 Kaiser Jeep has the larger west coast mirrors. As stated above, they are a pain in the woods but work much better on the highway. My west coast mirror on the drivers side...
