My expectation is that the tires will dry rot, or you will sell the truck, before you wear them out. Are you planning on putting thousands of miles on your truck? If not, and you can protect the tires from the sun as best you can, they should last you a long time. Bjorn (CRANETRUCK) has...
I think Bjorn covered this in a previous post. I can't remember the topic, but you might try searching under CRANETRUCK for his previous posts...or PM him.
Crazy as it sounds, it could be a clogged fuel filter. I had that happen once on an M1009. Under load, I guess the pump pulled enough fuel through. Coming down to idle, it would stall. I changed the filter and it went away.
Beautiful. FYI...those tie down straps are not correct. It is supposed to be bolted directly to the trailer. It is a quick fix. If you want pics, I can send you some of my CBS shelter mounted in my M105A2. You are lucky that I did not see that baby...and that is why guys should not post...
When you call to get insurance, make sure you tell your insurance company that you plan to drive it home 3,000+ miles (!!) and see if you are still insured. I doubt you will be covered if you have collector/historic insurance. Guys too often throw caution to the wind to save a buck. Wayne...
Beautiful truck. I love the multifuel 5 tons. Most guys don't appreciate them because they got into the hobby after most had already come out. When you say "5 ton" to most guys, they think about the M809 series. While the M809 series trucks are great, the older multifuels are less...
Search on bridge plate on ebay or GOOGLE. Or, go to TNJ Murray or Saturn Surplus' web site. You should be able to find one. They go for anywhere from $15 to $50. If you are lucky, and you can find one in the $15-25 range, you will have done well.
Derrick, I just received an email from a friend (also a SS'er) who told me that he received the same notification that you received. Either I received it and discarded it without reading, or I did not get it. Either way, others have received the same notification that you did.
I have purchased several trucks for more than $15K and I have never been questioned...EVER...including in the last several weeks. I am not saying you are wrong. I am only telling you how I have been treated.
If you are interested in upgrading the landing legs to the crank up kind, contact CUCVFAN. I bought one from him and it makes a world of difference when trying to hook up to a loaded trailer. I can't figure out why they just did not come with the crank up landing leg. It was worth every penny...
You got an M916A1 (as in a Freightliner) or you got an AM General M920 or M916? If you got a Freightliner, do you mind if I ask where you found it? Thanks!
The truck has 1400s on it. The truck definitely was supposed to have CTIS, but it looks like it was removed from the rims. This is probably for the best as it rarely works. The M939 does not make a good brush truck. Most brush trucks have some type of framework over the front end (like the...
