    Heaters and Air Con's

the HDT stuff is a little different than the rest of the ECUs the Army used. Most of it will fall under the TM for the trailer it belonged to, and include the genset as well. I believe that you are looking for either 1006310 HP-2C-185 ANA 1006314 TMSS MED Analog While I have copies of them...

My truck got a small part in a movie..

So a few months back I got a call from a buddy that they needed a HMMWV for a couple scenes in a movie. As far as I can tell, it was basically just a background prop, with one short action scene of the truck pulling up fast and skidding to a halt. For as little time as it's in the movie, I was...

    JUMPSTART M998 (24v) WITH 12v BATTERY PACK

some related info in this thread. Post #9 shows how I do jump starts from 12V packs. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/24-volt-harbor-freight-jump-starter.205755/

    JUMPSTART M998 (24v) WITH 12v BATTERY PACK

if you have the old 60 amp system, you should rotate the batteries every month or so. The front battery tends to receive a little more charge than the rear, and over time that imbalance grows to the point that the front battery dies from overcharging, while the rear dies from undercharging...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

UPS guy just showed up. First time this one has stopped here apparently. He started asking me about the M1102 trailer, and about the M1123. He said after he pays off his Harley a HMMWV is next on his list, though he might go for a 5 ton expando instead if he finds one decently priced, to go...

Connector to HMMWV 200 amp umbilical !!NOT slave cable plug!!

Just figure out which of the pins is positive, and which is negative. Treat it like any other DC power plug. In the BEOD, the big cables already went to the inverter, and the ends were labeled as positive/negative, so it was just verifying which pin did which polarity and wire accordingly.

1045 A2 with Hydraulic Line's Leaky Quick Connect Fitting

I didn't worry about bleeding mine. The hydraulic clutch is a dead end system. It doesn't matter if it has any air in it.Eventually the air will bleed out on it's own, and when it does the next component in the system is the reservoir, where the fluid will have a chance to get the air out...

M998 Was Alive, But Now Is Dead

I don't see how shutting off accessories will do anything bad to the box. The practice of allowing a diesel truck to run several minutes at the end of a trip goes back to early turbo engines and conventional oil. Turbos get hot. That's how they work, convert heat into motion. Oil flows...

    M998 FUEL FILTER LOCATION (In-LINE)

So there is a little fuel filter device behind the air filter, that is the fuel tank vent filter, to allow the tank to equalize to atmospheric pressure. For the fuel line itself, it comes out of the tank, through a check valve in line just in front of the fuel tank, then up to the fuel pump...

    Battery Kill Switch

Yes, every component goes to ground, but then all of those grounds end up going to a single point, and then to the negative battery post. Either way, the start of every circuit comes to a single point, and the end of every circuit goes to a single point. Disconnecting either of those will have...

    Battery Kill Switch

Can you explain this to me? I am unaware of how a circuit can be grounded if you completely disconnect the ground side of the circuit. I have heard of people claiming the 12V side can potentially allow reverse flow current, but unless there are aftermarket additions to these trucks, the 12V...

    Battery Kill Switch

usually on negative. Especially if you have a dual 12/24 system. I've seen it argued to do it either between the batteries or on the positive side, but I've always disconnected ground wires for working on stuff, due to the possibility of arcing with a misplaced wrench. The manuals also talk...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Was driving home tonight and above a certain RPM the oil gauge just started jumping erratically towards max. Rather than randomly start a new thread, I did a search and found this is a common occurrence if there is an issue with a wiring connection, though potentially it could be the gauge or...

What's the difference with the ECV Humvees & Regular Humvees (M1123)

ECV should only have 1/2" body lift to clear the turbo to my understanding. You can get most of the same benefits by doing a turbo upgrade, which doesn't require having the extended cooling stack, hood, grill, all that stuff. One of the local group has been converting his A1 truck into an ECV...

    which tire you would prefer

You say it's an M1123; they stopped using 8 bolt rims long before the 1123s were made, so it's extremely unlikely to be 8 bolt. At minimum it should be 12 bolt, and you might end up with a mix of 12 and 24 bolt at worst.

What did you do to your trailer today.

We do a yearly camping event in July for the local group. Usually have 8-12 vehicles show up. We also do a new year's beach run out at ocean shores. Add to these a maintenance day to hang out and do a little work on our vehicles sometime in the spring, and the occasional drive as a group, and...

What did you do to your trailer today.

pretty sure he can't. This ons happened to be sitting in a rotting cardboard box next to the trailer it was supposed to be installed on in the motor pool for a couple of years. Yup, I'm in Washington, down near Oly. are you on the PNW SS facebook group?

    which tire you would prefer

you're saying it has a set of the old 8 bolt rims with it? Those are only rated to 25psi. not all that strong. You might want to get another set of 24 bolt, or at least a set of 12 bolt rims, and throw the 8 bolts in the scrap pile.

What did you do to your trailer today.

So update for my trailer. My buddy scored me a green cover for the trailer, so I will end up painting the trailer green. I still have part of a gallon of RAPCO paint from doing the truck 2 years ago, hopefully it's still good enough. If not I have a newer case of their rattle cans. I finally...
