I had the same issue with my 5 ton. I found out that when my batteries were turned off at the dash I still had power going to my dash gauges. Lacking the time (at the time) to completely troubleshoot the issue (I'm flying in from offshore today so will make time over the next month off to find...
Second on the pain relievers. I didn't drive my deuce the distance you are, but **did** haul an F850 boom truck with mine, it turned into about a 16 hour day and when I got out, I almost fell over from pain and cramping.
**GOOD** hearing protection and water as stated above.
Best of luck and...
Oh, and "replacing parts" is an EXTREMELY expensive way to troubleshoot.
Learning your tools and vehicle will save you so much money and it really does give you peace of mind knowing your vehicle electrically and mechanically.
If you have any questions about electrical troubleshooting (how to...
Things fail over time... it happens.
Silly as it sounds, have you turned the headlights on and switched from bright to dim/vice versa? That's the easiest way to check the dimmer switch, and I have spent hours in my youth troubleshooting lights and that was the issue. In fact, there is this...
Check the dimmer switch. Bad grounds can cause that, or you may be in "bright" and that sidefof the relay failed.
Please keep us informed.
PS... that is a BEAUTIFUL truck! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🥰🥰🥰🥰
Good job bud! This is a small lesson on troubleshooting. I always go "E" to "H".... easy to hard. 😁 Checking the dimmer switch would have been one of my first steps, but I've been doing this a bit longer, so...
Anyway, feel free to ask any questions you may have, I will gladly answer to the...
So, a few weeks ago I was loading up the 5 ton to take it to a car show about 70 miles from the house. I packed my normal stuff and went to get my "grab bag" of tools when I realized if it was anything other than relatively minor repairs, I was going to have to BOHICA...... I don't even have a...
I bow to your knowledge oh wise one. How could I EVER mistakenly call a connector (or even a coupler) that is activated by heat (or, you know thermal energy) by the wrong name.
Nice pedantic mode you have there. Was what I said technically wrong? Yes. Did it at least point the OP in the right...
It's also possible there's a short to ground which could cause the thermocouple to trip. Somerhing to check.
Best of luck and kudos to the young man for learning and tackling a project like this.
My deuce knowledge isn't recent, but being as I used to experiment on mine, I have a lot of...
Check your blinker relay or the actual switch on the steering wheel. That could be the blinker issue. Next I would check the commonalities between the two circuits. Are they getting power? Is there a common ground they use that may be broken?
Good luck and please post steps and results to help...
I posted a while back about needing a diagnostic tool, and Guyfang stepped up and offered me "this thing I'm not sure what it's for, but you're welcome to it"....
Not commenting on the speed of the global mail system, but yesterday afternoon I received this in the mail, and as soon as I figure...
Thank you! So when I get home I'll check the "wet tank" test and also I'll listen for the solenoid. If, by chance the solenoid doesn't click or the werlt test works, what is "the fix" for this?
I apologize, but this system is so different than my old deuce.
