Short term the one wire? Or short term using the flat 4 wires and splicing an eye on the one end? Short of tearing the harness out? Can I just eliminate the orange wires and use the flat 4?
It looks like a dually rear but the center housing is strange looking. I don't think it looks as HD as the K30 14 bolt cooperate. Does it have a 70 on the gusset of the rear cast housing?
For clarity the thin green wire is the rogue wire to the right rear glow plug. Anybody??? Any reason it won't work??? Making a new 4 wire harness for each side. The OEM wires and beat and need replaced.
Without even a slightest whimper my Wife went out and assisted me in getting the wiring to the glow plugs repaired on Mr. Rusty. It was very cold out and windy. Considering last week I was working in a tee shirt and sweating. I had 7 of the 8 glow plug wires fixed. The 8 th one was a different...
After 3 days of miserable rain , cold and sickness. I am about to embark on putting the glow plugs back in. I have a plan to semi shield the glow plugs and the connections from the elements. I think it will hold up well. It will be better then the previous set up. I am using the stock 13 G A C...
That looks like a good heater core also. I did not see that one. It is nice and should work just fine. I have been using the aluminum ones because that is what they give me when I order one. But that copper / brass looks nice and functional also.
I think I will start with putting some inner fender fillers in place. They are missing. I suppose that could throw more snow and slush up in the engine compartment. I felt it would also help get it out faster not being there. When I plow sometimes the engine looks like a black piece of steel in...
I removed the transmission bell crank and cleaned it up. I will be getting a new spring at the hardware store and greasing it up really good. I think Mr Rusty was in the Atlantic ocean over the past 2 years. Everything is rusted up again. These glow plugs have been in this truck for 2 years. I...
I bought the A C Delco sock /sending unit at Autozone. I have a shop tell me to delete that sock and pick up dirt in the filter. Sounds a bit logical. I put one in anyway. Just get new 7/16" nuts for the straps and new 3/8" bolts for the skid plate. Use new. You will fight the olds off and then...
If it were mine. I would do the extra work and drop the fuel tank. the fuel pick up sock needs changed and the fuel tank I am sure could use a good cleaning and a coat of paint. May as well change the sending unit if it not functioning properly. Time to go the extra mile and do the job right the...
When I bought a few M1009's at a local union crane site sale they were stacked 3 high. The bottom one had a crack in the roof from the weight. All 3 had no wheels and tires and were sold as scrap. But I was able to use all the tubs and the only roof that was not useable was the bottom one. I...
After a short break for a snack and drink I went and installed the left door nomenclature tag and the B pillar VIN tag. I used a few of the pre painted black buck rivets I have. Air gun and a dolly back on as good as new. Not pop rivets but just as well. I have a few hundred if anyone needs any...
One of my least favorite things is the instrument cluster. I noticed for a while that the cluster was a bit dark on the right fuel side. Come to find out a bulb was missing from the center of the cluster back light system and one bulb needed to be cleaned and reseated. I had this cluster apart...
Today was a very progressive day. I also learned a few things I was not aware of. I was attempting to reinstall the seat belts in the M1008. I used my thread gauge and kept coming up with a bolt about 1/2" X 14. I knew that was NOT correct. I looked farther and got the metric gauge out. It comes...
well it's going with it. I have enough time in this job. I see pinched fingers and band aids. But Really it is at the ship point and I will just ship it as is. sooner then run and get it and bring it back and forth. Maybe it is worth something and the buyer can recover some of the costs. But it...
You can make a new fuel feed hose with 3/8" fuel hose and some split loom. It will be a bit longer but it will work fine. I made a few. I have done a few updates with a new metal line. A few look like the engine was pulled while the fuel line was still hooked up. Bent the metal line up and then...
That is how I removed it directly from the military. Picked up a NAVICP in Mechanicsburg in the late 90's. I will let it attached. You will see it's usefulness.
