You could jack it up one side at a time,spin the tires to see if bearings sound ok to pull it home. Check frame for serious rust. Anything else if your handy you :beer:can fix.
When my buddie and I brought our first duece home from Minn. to Indiana we did have a heater but had a terrible time keeping winshield clea:beer:r of ice and snow. The original old militry wipers are terrible.
This is why I dont think its a good idea driving these old trucks so fast with the brake system on them.
If your brakes go all you can do is hopefully have time to gear down and use your hand brake,and look for a safe place to get:deadhorse: off the road.
If you go past a house that has a rig parked stop and ask. There are truckers that change their own oil and just burn it in a barrel.My buddie and I and I have picked up locations that way.
