I have a dumb question here.
I think that I understand what the pyro gauge is for: if the EGT gets to high, back off the throttle. I guess the military detuned the engines enough to not need a pyro gauge, and it becomes necessary if the peak fuel rate is turned up and the engine is driven...
I'm assuming that your deuce is a multifuel truck. Here are the wiring diagrams:
http://www.nf6x.net/greentruck/m44wiring/toc.html
Major players in the starting circuit are the ignition switch, the start button, a big relay in a round metal cannister, and the starter motor+solenoid. The wiring...
I'm a late arrival in this thread, but I think Chris's M923A2 looks great, and I loved all of the pictures (and I stashed them all away for future reference!). Recently I've been getting the idea that I might want to sell off my M35A2C dropside cargo truck and my M543A2 wrecker, and then get a...
Bjorn, are you sure you don't work for Hiab? Because I'd be calling them up first thing next business day to buy one if I had the cash to do it with.
But seriously, seeing what a knuckleboom can do has me thinking that I ought to sell off my wrecker, deuce and Bobcat, and then buy a...
That HIAB crane looks awesome. I think I'm in love.
The ability of that HIAB crane to do close-quarters work is what I find especially interesting. My wrecker's hydraulic crane is pretty nice, but it can't lift stuff off the wrecker itself, like the spare tire. My deuce would be a lot...
I've always thought that Bjorn's deuce with a crane looked really neat and quite practical, and lately I've been wondering if my needs might be better served if I put a similar crane on my M35A2C and then sold off my M543A2 wrecker (which I just use as a yard crane). About the biggest job I...
I've used these switches with good results:
Pollak 51-316
I bought them through this distributor:
Wire Connections
Unkeyed versions are also available with lever-style knobs which look very similar to the on/off/start knobs used in many M-series trucks. These switches often show up on...
If you are not going to be using it at all for commercial purposes, then you should be able to register it as a Historical Vehicle. This will exempt you from paying weight fees (which are the bulk of that huge annual cost they quoted you) or needing to stop at truck scales. On the other hand, it...
Ah, I hadn't considered the stowage space under the rear of the bed. I wonder if the long bed would be necessary if the lift gate stowed vertically behind the bed, rather than folding up under the bed. Maybe I just made it up, but I'm under the impression that some of the lift gates used on...
Do any of y'all know what it would take to put a hydraulic lift gate on a deuce (such as my M35A2C)? I've never used or installed a lift gate before, so I don't know how they generally attach to the truck's frame, whether any random lift gate I might find would be easy to adapt to the deuce's...
Yes, I have my eye on one of Beltfed34's ones (I also have my eye on one of his M66 gun rings... I think I either need to win the lottery or get a second job!). I don't know enough about them yet to know if the mounting hardware included is right for my application or how complete it is.
Other...
Are the cab reinforcement kits for installing M66 ring mounts available on the surplus market? If so, then who has them and how much to they cost? Adding an M66 ring to my M35A2C is on my long list of things to do when I scrape up enough loose change...
I'm looking for information about the AB-1386 Quick Erect Antenna Mast (QEAM), particularly about how to properly mount one on an M1037 HMMWV shelter carrier. The appropriate TMs are TM 11-5985-426-12&P (covering the mast itself) and TB 11-5985-426-20 (covering installation of the mast on...
