It was a modification done on all Marine trucks. I don't think it's any special U-bolt. I think it's just a bent bolt or piece of threaded rod. Just cut two holes centered in the front edge of your hood, and bend some threaded rod to fit, with nuts and washers threaded on it on both the inside...
Since she looks like she could use some paint, why not use some of that "invisible paint" and then the gooberment won't even know you're on the road! That stuff's cheap, too. Damn near free. Did I mention easy to put on, too?
The Cummins, being a much straightforward designed and lower-compression engine is a bit more reliable. Neither the Multi or the Cummins is particularly unreliable. They're both great engines.
You signed a contract. Honor the contract.
Unless you want me to believe that you're one who doesn't give a flying f*** about contracts, so if I sign a contract on a truck with you, I can do whatever I like, regardless of the contract and its stipulations?
Just because the Gov't may not be...
Where do I look to find information on setting the injector pump timing on the LDT-465? I'm not entirely convinced that my truck's engine is timed correctly, but I haven't been able to find any literature about it in any of the manuals.
All Deuces have a manually-shifted transfer case. The front axle is engaged via air pressure. That is what the "air-shift" refers to. The hi/low selector on the xfer case is a lever on the floor of the cab, directly to the rear of the gearshift. Pull up for High Range, push down for Low Range.
Keep your eyes and ears peeled for someone buying a truck for the axles, or scrapping one... that's probably your best bet aside from buying a whole parts truck.
In the mean-time, if you need to move the truck in an emergency, start off in 3rd-low. It's between 1st and 2nd high, and with my truck seems to be a pretty good gear to start in.
The truck was designed for a particular purpose, and did a damn fine job. Changing the truck to try to suit it to a different purpose won't do any good.
My suggestions: lockout hubs on the fronts, taller tires, and running singles in the rear. That's about the most of what you'd want to do.
