Those look similar to the racks we (USAF TACP) used to hold 2 1KM spools of single strand fiber optic cable for the remote heads that were mounted in our HMMWV's
Ive pulled one apart to clean it up after getting it out of a salvage yard. Its really not that hard. I dont remember any steps. All I remember is the hardest part was getting the last few bolts back into #27 while holding the seat down under tension from the spring.
#27 is in reference to the...
We got a couple of tops to test out in the mid '90's in our TACP unit. I didnt like the look of them then, and still dont. But like WM said it did make the truck a little more secure.
If you dont mind a vinyl top they are pretty reasonable, less than $200USD before shipping. A hardtop, well one sold at auction (GL) for $915USD before fees. Hardtop prices are crazy high right now.
What truck is the 5th wheel coming off of? On my M818 there is a flange rivited to the side of the frame rails, then that spacer block is bolted on top of that and the 5th wheel is bolted to the spacer.

I know your new so dont take this the wrong way. Per the rules we are not supposed to post links to GL lots. I know its over, its not about that, the links go dead and in a month or 2 people reading this thread will not be able to see your truck. The best way is to save the pictures to your...
Here's my 2cents. If 2 of you are planning on going. I would drive not fly. You can carry all your tools and fluids with you and you have a back up vehicle if you need to make a run for parts.
I'd like to see a video of a deuce passing a semi on the highway.
Iceman, if you liked driving the deuce you love a 5ton (at least the 809 series), slightly more powerful, power steering and better brakes.
Try reading this and see what you think: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/67327-rockwell-axle-ratios.html
Bobbed w/stock size tires I might think about it, but with the bigger tires and lower gears you'll have to run it in low range all the time when you hit the trails
Would you be able to secure the trailers inside the truck? Thats alot of weight riding back there if you have someone pull out in front of you and you need to stop in a hurry.
Well obviously thats going to be state specific and Im sure your asking about Texas, I assume that where your from. I know in Ks to get antique tags the vehicle must be un altered. (to a certain degree)
Call the DMV and ask
