You can pull the main shaft without pulling the transmission. I had a problem with 3rd gear in mine, and was able to pull the driveshaft to the transfer case, the rear seal for the mainshaft, and slide the shaft back so I could lift it out. Ended up taking 2 hours to fix, including running for...
Can a the deposits be cleaned out of the deuce radiator? Pretty sure mine is plugged some, I am running 210-220 degrees when towing in the summer. I did drive 200 miles that way, no boiling over. Checked the thermostat, it starts to open at 185, and is done at 195.
On the GL radiators, I am...
What's your plan for a bed? tires? With all the bells and whistles are air lockers in the works?
Are the electronics going to be waterproof? Adding any fording capability?
Beautiful job, wish I could get one built for me!

Here is a couple of links with pictures. Dumps on the 2.5 tons, but should work on the larger 5 tons. Most have a stock appearance.

We use these filters at work, called cuno or kuno filters. They are always on the suction side of a lube or hydraulic pump. As stated, stacked discs inside. Usually a cork gasket on top. In theory, you can rotate the handle and remove the plug on the bottom of the filter, and the crap falls...
I've ran mine like that, was giving rides, worked out nice. The spacing on my cover is off for the ties to the bows, had to use a bungee cord in the middle. For some reason I have 1 more tie on the tarp than I do bows. Water did collect between the bows, nothing running the dump up couldn't...
My truck has been doing the same thing. Push the brake pedal and the truck would start to slow, then you really had to push, and the pedal would drop, brakes come on big time. Can hear a lot of air escaping before the pedal breaks free and brakes grab. Looks like I have to rebuild the air...
Couple of people have put v8 diesels in, but very tight fit, and lot of fab work. I think an auto would be a neat idea, but the stock deuce tranny has overdrive and still only does 56mph.
I thought about putting my 9.0L (551ci) v8 international in a deuce, but it's only 180hp. With the stock...
Just saw a 543a2 for sale, north of columbus, OH. $9800! Rusty and abused, but looks like everything would work. I was a nice guy and didn't take the brand new fuel pump assy sitting on the floor.
Yours looks in much better shape.

When my pump was turned up too much, it would max the pyro at 1400 degrees. Only did it once, and adjusted down the next day. Makes a great smoke screen.

Rebuilding cylinders is not hard, as long as the rod isn't pitted, or bore scored up. I haven't done those cylinders before, but have repacked many other cylinders at work. Not much different than a brake cyllinder, cups or seals face the pressure side. Plus you have a rod seal to deal with...
I just did an "enema" on my deuce. It was acting all kinds of weird, from a bad batch of used oil I ran thru it. Drained the tank, and filled it with straight gasoline. Unhooked the return line to the fuel tank and turned on the pump. The return line was plugged somehow, and after a while...
When I bought my truck, it didn't whistle at first. Took about 30 miles of driving before it would spool up and whistle. The motor is tagged as a D turbo, but at some point it received a C turbo.
Is there a way to install a check valve on the oil filters to prevent them from draining? I hate that 5-10 seconds on a cold start when the oil pressure is zero. I saw Devilman96 said something about adapting a different set of filters. I would rather modify the original filters. Is the oil...
